People on my Nerves because of my WLS

I told everyone that I work with, because I never use "time off", and I was taking three
weeks off.  So I told them, and they were very happy for me.  They knew how I hated
shooting three to four needles of insulin every day.  My hubby,, well he was afraid that I
wouldn't make it through the surgery,, but he hung in there. Betty, my one and only friend of
45 years,, told me all kinds  negative things,, how I was gonna look like death, and
will never be able to eat or drink anything,, and that I would probably be dead in a year.
She said she would never do anything like that,, and she was very over weight also.
As I was dropping the weight quite quickly,, she would always have something smart
to say about it,, especially if we were around other people.

Betty never saw the "end results" of my weight loss, as she went into the hospital
in mid May,, and died the first of June.  She was full of cancer.  She never went to
the doctors, had she gone on a regular,, they claim that she could of caught it, and
gotten treatment.

As far as going out,, I do it all the time, I eat what I want, how much I want, and don't
pay attention to the stares,, especially from strangers.  If I'm with hubby, I order my
meal, and as soon as I get it,, I start putting things on his plate,, then I start eating
what's left.  It works for us.

Okay, I am 7 years out and have dealt with everything everyone is talking about but think about it this way; if you could stop the talk by going back to the unhealthy woman or man you were before would you?

You can't pick and chose your haters; they come in the form of family; the guise of friendship; the curtain of Chistianity and there is absolutely nothing you can do to allieviate whatever pain is causing them to take it out on you except pray.  So do that....and if they keep getting on your nerves, it only took one public dressing down for me to get my peace back, lol.

there r of course a few issues going on here. first, should u announce that u have had surgery to lose weight? when asked how i lost so much weight i immediately say that i had surgery, i have nothing to hide or to be ashamed of...the surgery is a tool that only the people who have had it understand (as well as the docs/nurses) if people want to think to themselves that i have somehow "cheated" or "not lost weight the RIGHT way"....to hell with them.......this is what has worked for me, and my life
second. sure its hard sometimes dealing with family and friends about having had the surgery, i don't think i have found people "purposely" trying to feed me to somehow get me fat again but of course Ive been treated better by some after the surgery and worse by others......there r people that "accept" me now that i look normal, people who never even spoke to me before now want to "hang out", work out with me.........and there r others who think because i lost so much weight i think my sh..t don't stink, even though i don't act that way at all. they just "think" my rise in self confidence is a example that now after surgery I'm an as...hole..........which of course is unfair
Like some of the other posters here......i don't avoid social situations at all now, i even seek them out......i was cooped up so long in the house avoiding places to go, avoiding being judged for being obese  i didn't go anywhere......now there r tones of places that i go ALONE.....I'm not slowing down for anyone, I've chosen to live a life without fear...damn them...lol
