Since I will be starting a new job sooner than later I have decided I will not discuss wls with any of my new co-workers. New me plus a fresh start equals some things are better left untold.  What do you think?

Depends on what works for you!

The job I have now I got after I lost my 200lbs - so none of these folk knew me 'fat' - but I've been open about it - there is actually a lady on my team who has Lap Band and wants to get a revision - not because of me - but I have been able to really help her with nutrition and exercise tips.

HOWEVER - there is a place I don't discuss it - with clients - I work in the Health and Fitness industry and I'm APPALLED at how some of these folk view the surgery.  there's a couple of my clients that know, but mostly not - I share my story (not just all out like 'Hi I'm Mack - got my guts cut 4 years ago' lol) but when things come up - I don't purposefully hide it.

I've always been about telling my story - when I first came to the boards - I couldn't find a lot of detailed info on anyone who'd lost more than 150lbs and kept it off - I keep my info going so that someone like who I was back then can read it and say 'it's possible!'

My openness in real life is for the same reason.  BUT - to each his own - cause I am MORE than ready to deal with WHATEVER feedback someone might want to THINK they need to give me.... I WISH a mofo WOULD....

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

A lot of days go by when people give me their opinion like I asked it  like do not eat that weight back  on etc. That ****** me off and I wish I would not have told anyone but my close family.  I will always be open with those I develop a relationship with but as for telling people I just pass saying hi and bye daily not going to happen.  I work with 135 people now and ever single person knows because it spread like wild fire when the news got out.

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown

I don't discuss it, I really don't feel as though it's anyones buisness but my own. I mean none of the people with whom I work with have volunteered open heart, C-sections or much more commonly in my industry...facelifts so I don't feel as though a decision I made years ago for health reasons are any of their's.

LOL, when these MEN and WOMEN start telling me about all the elective work they have had done; then maybe,

I dont mind telling my story, if people ask me what I have done I tell them. Most people I came across who know my story have been very posative. I have educated alot of other co workers who have thought about doing it, but have been to scared to. I guess it all depends on how open you are to discuss it, but people do ask how u have done it. Every one wants to know peoples diet secrets, I mean we drop weight so fast... who wouldnt notice. I ay do what u feel is comfortable  =)

I think you have the right idea.  Don't tell 'em nothing.  It's your right to do so.  That way you can sit back and listen to all of the negative things that people really say about folks like us when they don't really know what's going on.

Stick to your guns, Yo.

Hello Highly Favored,

I share your blessings in the Lord.

I am a very personable person at work, I made the mistake of telling one coworker that I was close to at work and when I went out for surgery she told everyone. She told them as if she was joking with them but she knew exactly wwhat she was doing. It really hurt becaused I trusted her.

So I say don't tell if you don't want to. The people in your new office didn't know you before so they know nothing about your wls.

So Blessed!
