I'm more than 6 years out and didn't tell anyone (except close family and two girlfriends) about my surgery.  Every now and then, I'm inclined to share my journey with a stranger and it's usually an overweight woman.  That was my reason for the question to you.

Involve your fiance/husband in every aspect of your journey.  Assure and reassure him that he is the best thing since sliced bread.  Keep it open and real with him and you will be just fine.  Ignore the craziness of those who seek to spread their poison.  Speak positive affirmations over your marriage.

Blessings.

Guuurl- People are going to hate on you no matter what you do, especially when it comes to single or miserably married/taken women and they know you got a man and happy. Quite honestly she probably would of said something about your relationship regardless if you told her you had surgery or not. The fact that you said she is not overweight makes me believe she was thinking how could she get a husband and I don't have one, or she has one and she is miserable. Don't let her or no one else stop you from sharing your good news and blessings if you feel like doing so. I personally love to tell people, especially at work, that I had weight loss surgery so there is no need for rumors and gossip about how or why I lost weight. I nipped it in the bud and told it when I got back to work, and I have no regrets. Everyone always ask if I can eat certain things, there is no pressure to go have birthday cake for birthdays, etc. Girl you just do you, and **** everybody else. Point blank. If you like to share then share,  if you don't then don't. But don't let nobody stop you from doing what feels good to you. We all are going through a huge journey and I for one is very proud that I was brave enough to have the surgery and having success with it, and there is nothing wrong with wanting to share it. You have a double whammy, to be able to gloat about your weight loss and have an upcoming wedding!! Your face should be glowing!! No matter what, people who are miserable will always have a reason to hate when they see another person happy. Misery loves company!!!! Don't give them that much control!! Congratulations to you on your upcoming marriage and your weight loss!!

Congrats surgery sista on your success!  Don't even trip on the negative people.  There's always going to be someone trying to pull you down into their miserable lifes as well.  I've had so many people compliment me on my success and then turn around and say something nasty about me to someone else behind my back.  I know how i'm feeling now and I could care less what others want to speculate about my future.  Keep your head up, you are doing great!  We're both past half ways to our goal, nothing can stop us now.

Dayum...the audacity of her goes above and beyond what I would have said to a stranger let alone someone that I know.  I used to not understand why some people kept WLS a secret but this right here...is clear as mud!  I don't ever question anyone anymore when they choose to keep it a secret.

Oh yeah, someone is more than a little jealous of your happiness.

Sometimes you just don't want to hide your good fortune.  So you come out with it and others don't appreciate the confidence.

Its other people's ignorance that makes us keep wls to ourselves.  So you think, I'm not embarrased or ashamed, this is something to be proud of and share.  Then anothers jealousy or stupidity tries to spoil your moment.

Screw the fools out there and share when the spirit moves you.  Cut it off abruptly when how you are received feels wrong.  Just leave that fool hanging.
