FAT vs. Thick

I personally thought this article was a waste of time.  But it got me to thinking what is the difference and does it really matter what people consider you to be or who you think you are.

Edited to add one of the responses:

Wow, aren’t we delusional? Exactly what is thick? Thick has absolutely nothing to do with size, thick has to do with muscle density. You can have two cups of coffee, same size cup - one cup thin and one cup thick. So thick and “fat" are not the same.

However, some women seem to not understand the difference and use the term “thick" as a buffer term to deny the obvious. Thick, ghetto booty, Curvy, BBW, all terms to soften the blow of the reality that these women are overweight, out of shape, and without the tight jeans holding every blubbery flab in strategic positioning, stark nakedness would otherwise point to unappealing fat and flab! “I’m curvy!" No you’re not, your clothes make you appear curvy.

Not to say that being overweight equates to not being sexy. However, somewhere down the line, women have found a way to justify their size and disproportion. I often here so-called, “thick" women chastise thinner women by saying, “No one wants a skinny chick." It’s a defense reflex overweight women have.

I train fitness models and figure competitors and my girls do get snide remarks from, “thick" women, they get dirty looks, they get the eye rolling, the “eww - she’s too skinny." I’m often bewildered at the comments that this woman who is 60 pounds overweight and has managed to squeeze her flabby size 16 behind in a size 8 pair of jeans would have the moral audacity to point the finger at anyone who is in better physical shape, even on a mere cosmetic level.

The problem is that women are calling themselves thick and you men are supporting this nonsense. You guys see an overweight woman with a watery behind, you automatically call her, “thick" instead of admitting the truth. You’re a Chubby Chaser.

Thick is having denser “muscle" people! Not MORE fat! We black folks once called it, “solid." She’s solid - he’s solid! Having dense leg muscles, flat abs, hard thighs is THICK! The women today calling themselves “thick" don’t have that. Look at some of your Dominican women, they’re thick. The singer Selena was thick. She had dense muscle, a small waist and tight glutes. Jessica Rabbit (Melyssa Ford) is thick, Angel Lola Luv is thick, Ki Toy is thick, Darlene Crawford is thick, Buffie The Body is thick, Vida Guerra is thick, Venus and Serena Williams are THICK!

Men, stop telling these FAT women that they’re thick! They’re starting to believe it. This is why half of these women on here have these ridiculous photos in lingerie bending they’re flabby behind over in their camera phone. It’s bordering on absurd. Ladies, you can still be sexy and be overweight. No one is denying you of that but please cut the nonsense. Some of us men know the difference between thick and solid, and fat and flabby.

Dang it, my work filter won't let me read it.  LOL, I often wonder about the distinction, I grew up with pink people so I didn't realize there was such a difference til college and now I may be too old to know what the difference is!

(((Brenda))))

For me personally, I don't give a hot dayum of if anyone thinks I am thick or fat.  I am finally in a place where I am comfortable in my own skin.

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown

I couldn't agree more.  I am not in that place yet (which I have always been comfy in my skin but not at goal yet).  But I could careless what someone else thinks.  I would much rather focus on what I think.  And I think I am pretty HOT!  LOL

Most guys I know considered queen Latifah passed  thick.mark.and she is considered plus sized  and a few sizes Above is thick...

Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez,  Alicia Keys are some great examples of thick I think the word "thick" can apply to many women, such as

This is what most men consider thick --not fat but body well portioned....

Most women who are WELL BUILT CAN CARRY extra weight and still look voluptuous, if you carry most of the weight in the gut and stomach area, most women who are built like that MUST get skinny in order to feel thin......
