Another Christian Question....not about sperm (ew) taste
Nothing wrong with it - I was making a point. She labeled Ro's post ignorant based on her perception - figured I would offer a label as well.

I have brought people to the Lord, I believe that through showing people the love of God and Jesus it will draw them closer to GOD...not church!
Often time when referring to the the the "light of God" Its in reference to his son, his son is call to be the light unto our feet and the light that lives with-in us. In the bible when it references the light of Jesus its often referencing a "reflective light" meaning that as Christians what you do is going to be seen by those around you, even what you do in "secret", so don't do anything that is not becoming of your christian walk and things you dont want people to use to model there lives after. There's a Hebrew word to explain it all, I would have to look through my notes, PM if you really want to know it.
The word also talks about how we were created in his image BUT since Adam & Eve had there little gander with the fruit we would be born with a sin nature. Therefore meaning every Christian that you know is not going to have all the T(s) crossed and I(s) dotted. We are not perfect.
I am the son of a third generation pastor and often time the preconceived notion of how Pastors Kids act is often true. I did my dirt and boy did I do it. I tell you this, I use to hate going to church because I felt dirty and I felt like every statement one of the ministers said in there message or to me personally was directed towards beating me up. It was not until I realized that building my relationship with God did not involve, brother Tyrone and sis Suzy, but it involved Micah did I come closer to GOD. When you want to be closer to God you have to tune everybody else out because sin makes you feel so vulnerable you will easily get offended. God knows your heart, not Sis. Hattobig, so if she says something annoying pray for her, she obviously is not where she should be with God anyways.
Now as far a Christian sinning too, I have always explained it to people like this. When we were born we had on a white shirt of purity as we continued to live our life that shirt continued to become more dingy. We then got to the tender age where we now can make our own decisions we start doing things that even those who are not Christians know are wrong and now we are getting stains all over our crisp white shirt. We then come before God and say I need you back in my life and I need you to wash me and make me whole. Think about it, even with super concentrated bleach used, will never get all the stains out. Those stains that wouldn't wash out are now are own little personal battles and we struggle with them, we slip up and we mess up, but one thing about God he is forever merciful. God doesn't judge us and as a Christian we should be striving to be more like God meaning we should not judge people either.
Our church is the most, laid back, religious-free, non-traditional church ever. We laugh, we play, we don't judge, we realize that we are real people, and even my father who is the pastor will get up before his message and ask the Lord for forgiveness of his sins. WE ALL SIN! and I apologize if you have encountered those holy rollers that try to belittle your effort to come closer to God, they are not any better than you. Next time one of them approach you just kindly tell them, God is not a Respecter of Person(s). Meaning we are all the same baby so keep it pushing.
Far as the 10% thing, the word says to do it, but honestly it has to be in your heart. Trust me, those who don't agree with it don't do it. I know you probably think that the Pastor taking the money but honestly churches are expensive to maintain. Now this is speaking from what I have seen but most Pastors make there money doing something else. My parents are friends with pastors who run mega churches to pastors who run store-fronts and honestly 75% of them barely take any money from the church. Like my father, his success comes from his successful real-estate investment business that he started when when he was an exec from Ford. All the money put into the ministry at the beginning of it inception was from; him, my mother, and some other faithful people.
I have brought people to Christ through my love, my kindness, through my TRANSPARENCY, and showing them that I am by no means perfect. I have made a difference by running different outreach ministries in at-risk communities most churches wont go in, I'm not afraid to step out of my pleasant suburbia to help people out and give back to people who are less fortunate. Once again I am striving to be more like Jesus, Jesus and God didn't discriminate against what people to go and take the gospel to.
