Too Ghetto? (hair question)
No, that would not be 'ghetto'. =) But as a suggestion, you may want to get cornrows or twists to the back, because you will be sweating most likely so....getting it straightened, it wont last at ALL. =) At least if you get it twisted to the back, in a week or so you can take them down and your hair will still be done, it will just be crinkly. Just a thought. Good luck!

Just remeber you can have any metal hair clips in your hair the day of surgery
No Ma'am! It is not ghetto at all, honey, you are trying to protect your hair. I did it! I wore it while in surgery and through out my stay at the hospital. When it was time to go, I threw on my tube dress, my cute sandals, combed out my wrap and I was feeling good! You don't want the dry cotton pillow case at the hospital to dry out your hair or break it off.
Congrats on your upcoming surgery! Listen, the last thing you will be thinking about is the do when you wake up from surgery. I brought books to read, a nice new nightgown and robe and didn't use any of it. I had an open RNY and the first 24 hours I was so sleepy from the morphine pump I could barely keep my eyes open. The second day, the gas pains were kicking my butt and that evening I went home. I know I looked a hot mess in my hospital gown and bed head walking up and down the hall. I knew it, but in that moment I couldn't muster up the energy to care.
Best wishes!
