Can I highlight my hair post-op???
Hey Girl!
I keep highlights in my hair, I usually get them 2 weeks after a touch up/relaxer, that way you will have roughly about 4 weeks for the color to settle before you put a new relaxer in your hair. Usually after I get fresh highlights I go every week for a protein treatment so that my hair does not fall out from the color, I usually keep up the protein treatments for about I'm tired of my hair so I'm going bold this weekend and I'm going to get a sew-in for the first time. I hope that I love it! Good luck with your hair, I"m sure that it will turn out great.

It's not a no-no - but be careful - you may notice thinning or brittleness in your hair in the coming months and too much chemical processing may make the issue worse and/or more noticeable.
I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions! I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

2 weeks after a relaxer......or 2 weeks prior to a relaxer.

I'm with MM, you have a chance of your hair shedding so I wouldn't try the chemicals just yet. I had a perm about 2 weeks after surgery (only because I didn't know better), then I start getting it washed and pressed. I'm 6 months out now and have had minimal shedding. I'll be going back to the perm as soon as I'm clear of the shedding stage.
I did post op. Of course I have some breakage, but you really cannot get away from that when you lighten your hair, its gonna happen.
