Stoma Blockage

I have a call into my surgeon's office...just waiting for them to reply but I think I have another blockage. Severe pain in my stomach area....and feels like a build up there as well. Have not eaten anything out of the ordinary. Had to go home from work yesterday due to the pain. Had to sleep to give it a chance to work its way out.  Only in a few hours today and decided to eat some broth off of the chicken corn soup and BAM!!!! it hit me again like a tone of bricks....severe stomach cramping.

I was reading online where one bariatric office was recommending diluting meat tenderizer and drinking it as well as eating papaya juice to break the blockage up. . I never heard of any of this before even being this far out. I don't dare try it. I will wait to hear what the surgeon says.

Anyone else hear of these type of remedies from a reputable surgeon? What have you heard?

I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues.  I don't think remedy is far fetched as papaya is a natural tenderizer & I've seen papaya enzyemes referred to several times on the board.  I hope you get to feeling better soon!

Thanks Gililani....The papaya juice sounded reasonable...was not sure about the meat tenderizer. I don't think either would be harmful...but I did not want to rely solely on them to address my issue. Who knows my surgeon may tell me the exact same thing. I have had a blockage before but in the past I would just wait it out. I am feeling so famished and weak...need to be able to keep something down. May have to go by there and pick up some protein juice packets. I should always have them on hand now that I think about it. Thanks for the well wishes. You look good in your new avie.

My diagnosis whenever I hear about someone having tummy pains is almost always a possible BOWEL OBSTRUCTION. I had symptoms off and on for 2 years before I was rushed to the emergency room and  almost died in 2005.

Bowel Obstruction is always possible whenever you have ANY type of abdominal surgery.

Thanks Rhonda!

I am so glad that you responded. I had no idea about the bowel obstruction...so far I am feeling better. I will have another  EGD done if problem persists. I had one about 6 months ago...and they found ulcers but nothing else. How did they diagnose the bowel obstruction...can that be detected with an EGD...or will I need some type of ultrasound. Any insight appreciated...I will be one step ahead of the doc. Thanks again.
