Hair coming out???

Good morning everyone:
I just wanted to know if anyone else experienced their hair coming out?  And if so, what did you do?  While washing my hair this morning, I noticed that I'm shedding a lot more hair than normal.  I've read where others have on the main message board, but hadn't heard from any African-American members.  I have pretty thick hair and I just recently (2 wks ago) cut my locks and is styling a short fro (love it).  I'm thinking that I possibly made the right decision to cut the locks because the weakness would have caused my locks to fall out (that would not have been good).

My hair fell out like crazy,, but I was quite happy about it because I always had
really thick hair.. so for me it was ok.  It came back some,, but it's no where near
as thick as it was,, and I'm ok with it.  In fact I like it like this.

I'm liking it right now also, but I just wonder how long it will shed like this.  I'm not one of those who allows their hair to "define" them. 

i didnt experience hair shedding until I was 4 months post op! I freaked out!!! It could be a combination of things that are causing you to shed.

anesthesia and hair shedding, is very common after any typer of surgical procedure, in fact in support groups and researching RNY i found that this is the most common reason.

INCREASE WATER AND PROTIEN!! as a precautionary measure try to consume at the minimum 100g of protein and 64oz of water daily

Thanks for the suggestions.  Yes, I would love to color my hair but I'll wait until my hair finish with it's "transition". 

I had locks long enough to sit on. I had locked in 2000. At 3 months out I noticed the thinning and the shedding. I decided to go out on my terms so i cut them all off. I am sporting a "salt N pepa fro" now. I am 8 months out now and the shedding seems to have stopped. I think it may be a lil thicker also.

Mine was pass my shoulder but this is the 2nd time I've locked.  It doesn't bother me to cut them and start over again, but I think I'm really liking the short hair style.  I found this product called Kinky Curly Curling Custard.  It's all natural and it takes the natural curl of your hair (when wet) and keeps it.  I love the way my hair looks now.  It looks as if I have a texterizer in it but trust me-it's all natural products.  I research and read thoroughly.  Depending on the length of your hair is how often you apply it (gel).  I normally do mine about 3 x per week (water aerobics, step and kick boxing can be brutal).  I have a friend with longer hair who can go for a week (lucky girl).  You apply right after you wash your hair in the shower.  Check it out on U-tube.  It saved my short style.

Thanks Baby girl....you must be a mind reader. I was trying to figure out what to do with my hair from here on. A perm or any chemical process do's was out of the question. A wig would annoy me. i am going to try this product out. i will let you know (maybe take a pic) how it turns out.

Finally starting to  my DS

I'm going to take a pic this weekend and post it.  A lot of people like ourselves want to do something natural but different with our hair.  Good luck and let me know how it turn out.

My hair is super duper thin since WLS  I have bald spots that never filled in but I place my hair to cover them.   

I just ordered some stuff for thin hair it is suppose to help make whimpy hair look full so i'll see how that works.
