O/T For those with natural hair, what flat iron do you reccomend?
Ok, I haven't had a perm since January 2007 and I only wear my hair 2 ways, curly or pulled back. Prioe to last week, the last time I attempted to straighten my hair was October of last year & my Gold N Hot appliances didn't do a good job.
I've been doing some research, as I would like to wear my hair straight in the winter, since I won't be able to wear it curly, because i would have to wa**** & let it air dry. However the only thing that i've had any decent luck with was just last week , when I got a coarse har hair dryer from Vidal Sassoon for $8 & a Cortex flat iron for about $30, both from TJ Maxx. These 2 items got my hair straighter in in a shorter amount of time than anything else I've used in the past. Dryer only took 1-2 passes & flat iron took 2-4 & with other appliances, it was at least double that. Although the results are much better then before, it just doesn't get my ends straight enough, they still poof up.
So, does anyone have any reccomendations?

Well when it comes to Flatirons....Ceramic is the way to go!!!!
My pics that's all my own hair and I don't know when the last time I had a perm
My girl uses the FHI Flat irons on my hair..Not cheap(79.99-200.00) but my hair feels like satin everytime!
Also Jilbere has a less expensive line that's pretty good(29.99-89.99)!
Hope this helps!!!!

I have a maxi glide, it uses steam to help straighten hair and it gets your hair so super straight. I spent $150 on this one and that thing sucked I spent $79 on this maxiglide and it is awesome.
I don't use a lot of heat though, the highest I ever went on the heat is 4, I usually stay on 2 or 3.
I used it on my neice hair that is really coarse and thick and it got her hair very straight also.

Salty Pickle a.k.a. Lee
i am a hairstylist and I just love the Chi or Fhi irons. I swear by them. Some of my clients have purchased the generic at sally's and been very happy with that to do touchups.
Sally's also has a great returm policy. You just have to keep the box.and you can return it in 30 or 90 days i don't remember

I use a Maxiglide. I thought the steam would just make it frizzy but it gets it smooth and straight especially the ends of your hair. It comes with some kind of natural styling serum that is supposed to keep your hair straight even in humidity. I was surprise that it actually worked. Using a straightening serum really helps with maintaining a straight style on natural hair. I also use Fantasia IC Heat Protector Straightening Serum if I don't use the other stuff.
