New Post-op Tip of The Week
Respect the pouch !!!!!
Whether you are 1 week , 1 month or 1 year out your pouch knows best. If you are 1 week out you should be on liquids and be babying that pouch. 1 month out you should be on mushy or soft foods and not a wide variety of foods because that pouch is still like that of a newborn. 1 year out you have experimented with many things and pretty much know what your pouch likes and dislikes but you need to know that this surgery is FOR LIFE and the pouch rules !!!!
I'm 18 months out and I have gotten lax on my protein because my appetite is not great due to an illness I'm going through right now, well when you don't get in your protein there is a great probability that you will lose hair. When I combed my hair the other night, enough hair came out to make a short fro wig for someone. Biotin is a great supplement for hair loss but it won't prevent you from losing it, it helps with the regrowth. It is very important to get in you 60-80 gr of protein daily and get all of your vitamins ( not kiddie vitamins, you're an adult with adult needs) kid vitamins are fine while your pouch is healing but in my opinion after 4 months the Flintstones have to go and I know they are dr. recommended but with research I don't agree. And last but not least, get in at least 80 ozs. of water.
***Disclaimer*** I'm not a dr. or nurse and I don't play one on tv or Internet. These tips just come from things that I may have experienced or have learned from the veterans of this board or other boards.
