OT: Married people and single people CANNOT be friends....

You are so right! My BF and I don't hang much at all. She is still single and I've been married for 14 years today. We occasionally go out to eat and catch up or she comes by to pick up the kids since she's their God-Momma but we don't hang out at all.

Honestly, it would be weird if my husband was still running with his single boys. I mean they don't have as mu*****ommon anymore.

The friendship gets worse when the married folk start having kids. I mean what would your single carefree friend have in common with a married woman with kids?

why wouldn't you still have things in common with single folk?  you don'****ch movies anymore, go to the park, go out to eat just because you're married?

and the other killer for me - ok - cool you got kids - I'M A DAYUM SINGLE PARENT - ain't nothing carefree over here!

other than NOT having a dayum hubby - I'm the same mofo I been!  LOL

Well, for me...........my BF is considered single folk and always wants to party etc. We have a rule that we never go to the show together (but I do go with my sisters) cause she talks throughout the movie or screams at the screen and it drives me nuts. I just think we are taking two separate paths in our life............For me ~ my life is work, family, church, school. Her life is..........partying, kicking it, hanging.

Yea, you a single parent so you could relate to kids........my BF has none so she's sho nuff carefree.

I can admit............I'm not the same person before marriage. My goals and my life has changed but again...........I'm use to it. I've been married 14 years now.

In my circle of friends I am the single one. The thing is some of them are so unhappy in their relationship til its sickning. But they chose that life not me. Then I get the comments on I wish I was you and I'm like WTF you married that person so deal with it.

That's my two cents....

I definitely think it IS possible for married and single people to be friends, but with parameters:

1) A friend of one must be a friend of the union also.  Can't be driving a wedge
2) The single person must realize that the married person has different obligations and objectives so a club night all night as we did before is not possible.
3)Everybody respects everybody elses differences now and doesn't expect things to be like old times.
4) The married couple respects each others space and trust the other so time apart won't result in DRAMA

When I was married I did distance myself from friends who couldn't understand that things changed (I mean I can't hang out til the club close I had a husband and two small babies), but anywho I did.

Now that I am going through a divorce when I am hanging with a group of married women they all act like I am trying to recruit their husband to be my sons'  stepdaddy!  LOL

Girl when I was married my club time was 9:30 - 12:30, I had to be home before 1 (my choice and my rule) as my momma said when we were growing up "Aint nothing open after 2AM but legs and motel rooms"
