I think you have answered your own question, if you were not really close friends to began with, then I would not sweat it! I don't buy gifts for people that I know casually, women are notorious for asking everybody and their 3rd cousin on their great granddaddy's side to attend their wedding ONLY FOR A GIFT OR MONEY!! I only buy wedding gifts for close friends and relatives that I like, but to each his own. I agree with MM on this one!

I don't know if its ettiquette but I always give a gift at the shower and the wedding. If I am only attending the shower then I only give a gift at the shower. For someone I am not close to, I probably would just send a shower gift.
Working on me - want to be better in everyway not just physically!!! Its a process no time to judge or be judged!!!!
