Hi everyone!

i am new to this forum. I am a little over two weeks post-op and excited for my next phase to begin. So far I have lost 20lbs and want to continue. Can you give me some ideas of good things to eat during the pureed phase (which my surgeon wants us on for 3 weeks).

Also, I have a hard time with water, unless I put something in it like diet juice or very weak crystal light, I can drink just plain water - is this normal?

I look forward to any advice you have to offer.

Thanks!

Welcome to BAF and congratulations on your weight loss.

I'm no help with foods as puree was baby food for me.  Nothing was particularly appetizing except a shrimp salad from frozed cooked shrimp, red onion, a touch of olive oil and lemon juice with a sprinkle of old bay and ground thyme in the mini food processor with just enough water till smooth.

Many people have a hard time with water.  It took me months to get it all in daily and I still have my off days.  I try to get 40 oz plain water and another 40 oz zero caffine liquids.  Water has tasted bitter to me ever since rny.  Get all your liquids in every day.  You'll eventually be able to reduce the other beverages and increase the pure water.

Hi there, congrats on your surgery.

I din't have a RNY, so be sure to keep your Drs recommendations in mind.

For the Mushie phase (I didn't have to do a pureed phase) Moist tuna or chicken salad.  Wendy's chili was great since a small could last me 2 or 3 meal times.

I'm sure some of the other bypass regulars will chime in.

Hi and Welcome!

I didn't exactly "puree" any foods during that stage of the diet but I took small bites and chewed everything until it was mush before swallowing.

My favorite meal during that phase was refried beans, w/melted cheese, sour cream and salsa -- very tasty!

Try tomato soup w/cheese melted on top, scrambled eggs, applesauce or yogurt.  I also started eating fruit during this phase.

I could not drink plain water after surgery either.  I can now at almost 3 months out but not on an empty stomach.  I get a wave of nausea immediately after drinking it.  I have to do crystal lite or diet Snapple.

I am going to pureed phase and all I can share is what I plan to do and some of the recommendations in the literature my doctor gave me....

1) I can't do baby food, I don't like the smell or look (no seasoning Uggghhhh).
2) Rotisserrie Chicken - cube place in blender with chicken broth to puree
3) scrambled egg, puteed with milk (I just added milk to my raw egg and scrambled lightly
3) mashed potatoes with protien powder
4) pinto beans pureed in a blender
5) Taco Bell pintos and cheese blended
6)1/8 cup of blended tuna

Working on me - want to be better in everyway not just physically!!!  Its a process no time to judge or be judged!!!!

Thanks everyone. I will try some of these ideas. I just need some variety in my life. I'm so sick of broth right now I could scream.
