see now I was with you until you said I might not meet Mr Right tomorrow..prior to that I read..thank you God for making me the woman that will attract the man I am looking for

I don't pray to pay down my debt...I just Thank God that I made it to 2010 when my debt, besides my mortgage payment, will be paid off!

I was speaking hypothetically.  To be honest I am not looking for a man, a boyfriend, fcuk budddy, nada.  Just throwing out examples.

Those times I feeel like I need to prayer it is mostly  that I learn from the mistakes I have made in the past, and the wisdom to not repeat them.

Congratulations on getting out of debt!

I purposely avoid many of the "religious" conversations, but I will give my 2 cents on this..........

For those who practice Christianity, an intimate relationship with God is what is strived for. Which means consistent prayer consisting of praise to Him, thanksgiving, intercession(praying for others) an also petitions(prayers for self). Sometimes prayer can just be expressing yourself to God. There is nothing off limits.....nothing too big, nothing too small. Nothing too embarrassing and nothing too forward. Our understanding of God is limited.....for the christian the single largest way to understand Him is through the bible. But I personally believe that no matter how well we understand the bible or how often we pray, God is bigger and broader than we could ever imagine or comprehend.

In a nutshell Rochelle, there's a song that says "what a friend we have in Jesus" it says "Oh what peace we often forfeit, oh what needless pains we bear, all because we do not carry, EVERYTHING to God in prayer". I admit that we all can be selfish sometimes, but if there is anyone we can share the most intimate details of our life with.......it's God!

I hear you D for real...my thing in a nutshell is....is asking not doubting? Does asking show lack of faith?

Oh no Rochelle, quite the opposite. Asking is a show of your faith. Why would I ask anything of anyone I have NO confidence in? We are to ask in faith, believing.....however, faith without works is dead.........don't ask God for a job, but then be too lazy to get out and look for one. That's just ignorance (IMO). God works supernaturally.........He supercedes our natural.........we are to do all that we know to do, trust Him to direct us in what we do.......and then expect Him to work out those things we cannot. Does that mean that everything will go the way WE want it to? Nope.......but faith is knowing that we belong to Him and that He has our best interest in mind, so ultimately all things work together for the good to those who love Him..........even we don't understand it all.

Amen!!
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts" (Isaiah 55:8-9, NIV).

I had to go for a minute to do some work for a presentation I have tomorrow, but I didn't want you to think I was running from you.  LOL.

Any way I do think we need to pray.  I concur with Cookie that prayer is communication with God.  When  I pray I unload my inner most thoughts and share with God and ask to see more of Him in me.  I also ask for guidance and direction, but more importantly I always give thanks and praise Him for just being Him.

Working on me - want to be better in everyway not just physically!!!  Its a process no time to judge or be judged!!!!

Okay, lortab laced reply here...It is rare that I pray. I prefer convos in my head with Him instead. I believe that our lives are planned by Him so why beg and plead? Sorta like when I was little and I would call my Moms name 100 times and she would ignore me cuz she knew I just wanted some ole simple shiot. I prayed to him to bring my husband back safe, instead I had to bury him. I prayed for daughters and what did I get? Two stepdaughters who make my arse tight on a daily. I prayed for a house and I ended up with a money pit. SOOOO...I now just talk to Him and tell Him I would like peace. This is something that I have control over. *sigh* My faith has been tested over and over again and I feel that my prayers are in vain. Makes me think about the movie with Jim Carrey and the email prayer scene. I wish we had instructions on how to really do it right. The bible is too cryptic for me to figure out.
