You Need Prayer Seriously???

Seriously?? What ever happened to just having good ol' faith in God??

There are those of you that believe in the "word" "Jesus dying for your sins" and still you will get on your knees and ask for things I really don't get... like praying for clothes, a mate, a safe trip (neva understood that one for real), for strength to not eat some chocolate, pray to lose weight, prayer for a happy birthday, a good date, pray I win lotto etc...I just don't get it!!!!

Here I am a person that doesn't believe in the bible and yet I would feel bad about asking for some things that I see "children of God" ask for.....Like doesn't God have bigger fish to fry? Even my heathen azz feels worthy of the best God has to give, and I can say I do get it...I live a very happy filled life!! When I do ask for something its on someone else's behalf....Maybe if most of you would do more THANKING when you pray instead of ASKING your lives would improve...but that is just my 2 cents...there was a time I was an "asker" but I was getting everything I asked for and it wasn't necessarily what I really wanted, it was because I lost faith that God would provide for me without asking/praying for it....I know it gets on my nerves when my kids ask me for stuff I have prepared to give them

No but seriously is there anything you won't pray for? Or are you one to pray for everything? Where do you draw your prayer line?

Ro,
I'll preface this by saying I was raised in the Catholic church.   Basically, you're pretty much told that to pray for things like, well, wealth is a "sin".  Because of that, and otther things I disagreed with, I am more spiritual than religious.  I believe in a Higher Power/God/whatever one wants to call Him, but not in human dogma.

Having said that, according to those who beleive in the law of attraction, meditation/prayer comes first.  The belief that putting it out there and that it will come thru for you is where the faith comes in.   Not before, but after you put it out there.  :)

Hey, Beautiful!

I am one to acknowledge God in every aspect of my life because that's what HIS word tells me to do.  Even when I'm not doing the right thing.  I have conversations with HIM just like I would with you.  I just talk.

Prayer is not  always about asking for something, it is communication.  There is NO subject that I feel is off limits to discuss with my Father.

When you make statements like "Like doesn't God have bigger fish to fry?"  you are likening God to man.  HE never gets tired of hearing his children call out to HIM.  He's God!

I hear what you are saying lighthouse, but come on now you have to admit praying for God to give you a safe trip in other words hoping not to die, is a bit much

No I am not making God, Man, in no means, NOOOOOO WAYYYYYYY am I doing that, I'm just saying stop with the petty bullshiot and live the life God has given you...don't talk about it be about it, that is just my mentality...Ain't like God doesn't already know what is up! Be Humble...humble folks don't ask for shiot!

My mon is a Jehovah's Witness so I grew up in the religion and still attend the Kingdom Hall, but I am NOT baptized nor have I ever been baptized in any religion....

When we would go to and leave conventions, she always prayed for safe travels for us and everyone else....she still does today....before I drive home...she calls and she prays with and for me.....

I like that!

Like Hope, everyone should have their own personal relationship with God....praying doesn't mean ASKING...I pray when I need to vent....I pray when it is a pretty day...my prayers are more...direct me...I'm blind....yada, yada

I also don't believe in public praying....like being a show-off...my prayers are just that MINE....they are PERSONAL...I don't pray for man's attention (like out in public)...

I guess I am humble LOL...I ask for guidance...but not material things...no matter how much I want a lace wig and new Crossover LOL...I only seek Guidance b/c I cannot direct my own steps!

I focus not on my disabilty; my focus is on my ABILITIES.

I felt Cookie on the conversation tip MOST folks are asking though...I have conversations/arguements as well.....Yet I have faith that I'm guided without asking/praying, I have faith its God's will that ALL things happen...How I choose to deal with it is my only role in God's PLAN.

I don't usually pray for specific 'stuff' like money or clothes or anything.  There are so many other things more important, like health and safety.

But I have prayed for a little help when I was in need, having hard times financially, but I feel that's a little different.  Now that I think about it, I also preceed it with....if it is your will.  Don't know if that makes a difference, but it makes me feel less guilty.  LOL

I draw the line on selfish and materialistic things.

Yes it does make a difference Kim....you are asking for clarity...you are not taking for granted that just because you prayed and others prayed in three's that it will take place...you just wanted to doubt to be taken away...howeva YOU are responsible for the doubt, that is completely on you, YOU have to have more faith

Hold up *reeling it back in* I'm typin' to Kim...that mofo already knows...LMAOOOOOO
