People racism and ignorance is alive and well. I have been hearing all the debates about whether student should be allowed to listen to the the presidents speech about school for over a week now, but this morning it just really bothered me.

I am outrage that parent would be apposed to allowing the children to listen to a positive message from one of the most powerful people in America. Is it because he doesn't know what he is talking about? Is it because he is talking about something in appropriate. No it is because this is a black man in a position of power. It is ridiculous that we would put Bush back in office for a 2nd term and let him drag the United States but we wont allow or current president to encourage our children to stay in school and do better for them self. I'm just really disappointed that society has NOT progressed past such ignorance.

We will continue to encounter this type of behavior for the next eight years.  I have learned to do what President Obama did in one of his speeches...bru**** off my shoulders and keep smiling!

People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas. ~Author Unknown

My kid's school had red signs by the doors the speech will not be heard in their school district.  The district feels it would be better if the parents tape it and play it with their children.  I know that is not true they just had so many people complaing about it in their mostly white district they did not want to go through the drama.

Lee, that's what really bothers me. ARE YOU SERIOUS??? Kids home so that they cant listen to the speech. Those are the same kids that will be dropping out of school, doing drugs and kicking there parents butt on a regular. But you don't want them to be encouraged!!!! CRAZY!

You said a mouth full right there. You are so right I have no problem with my son watching it at all. I have parents here that are complaining that the school isn't going to broadcast it but the child is to watch it at home with the parent because they will be tested on it tomorrow. WTF!!!

COME ON!!! YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. A test? I would send a note to the school, we don't have TV, therefore you need to show it AT SCHOOL...

I agree.  My son came home Friday with excitement in his eyes and told me the president was coming to see him at his school.  I corrected him, and told him what would be happening, then we discussed  how much of an honor it was for our prez to be speaking directly to our youth.
It upsets me that this is even a debate.  My pastor said on Sunday "The devil can tell my children to stay in school as long as he doesn't tell them anything else."  While it is extreme, when have we ever censored our president on any issue?

oh my goodness...you are so in my mind today..i really had every intention on getting on the rant and rave board to say something about this..then i decided to get on here to say something..but then i just attempted to let it go..however since you brought it up i'm gone speak on it..lol

i saw 2 pink men saying they didn't want their kids to have to listen to this..one man said his children know the importance of education..heck all children know the importance of education..but i bet that doesn't stop him from telling that to his kids..that doesn't stop their teachers from telling them the importance of an education..i'm like WTF your kids know..hell they know a lot but that doesn't mean that they wont let drugs led them astray, that doesn't mean they wont have unprotected sex..just cause they fckin know something does not mean you dont need to tell them..

the 2nd pink man said that his children learn all of the morale values at home..i wanted so much to jump through the tv and tell him you a dam lie..your damn kids aint kept at home and home schooled and don****ch tv and have no friends..your fkcn kids learn their values from a number of places..yes they get their base at home..but they learn from their teachers, the lunch room lady, the bus driver, they learn from their friends, music, videos etc..

but you know dam well these pink people that are fighting this will be the first to swear up and down they are not racist..then what the fck are you then STUPID..ok admit to being STUPID then i'll acknowledge that you not racist..OMG i am so upset about this..cause i swear you didn't/hadn't and wont hear this outrage when George W, Bill, or the other George spoke to the kids..is President Obama the first President to speak to our children..i am just so outdone with these stupid ace white people

and since ya'll got me all riled up..in case you didnt or done know that dam Sarah Palin is white trash..and let me say this you dont have to be poor to be white trash..one of my coworkers..let me tell this story..about 1 month before Palin was running my coworker was talking about her neighbor down the street and how they were white trash and how the 18 year old was pregnant and just a disgrace..but somehow with Palin was up there with her preggo daughter and her baby daddy oh they weren't white trash..then when my coworker niece turned up pregrant right after that she wasn't white trash either..i'm like WTF..ok let me stop..these pink people get on my dam nerves..lol

Kittie Katt. i rest my case I don't need to say no more. I was just as furious as you. I woke up this morning fussing, because it was the first thing I heard on the news. My husband ask me are you OK because I don't usually get caught up in this kind of stuff but it is just down right sad.
