I'm not sure of the validity of the information I am about to type. I hope a nurse chime in and correct me if I am wrong....or add additional information.

After WLS (RNY) we are to refrain from taking NSAIDS (fact); I have terrible headaches (not migraines...but clusters....guess I'm boyish for real) and menstrual cramps for me were AWFUL.

The nurse told me this information about Tylenol (Acetaminophen)....the way the drug works as oppossed to Ibuprofen....Ibuprofen works toward the pain (immediately onset), but with acetminophen, it works to prepare the body for pain.

Meaning....if you know you will have your monthly on the 15 of September, start taking Tylenol 2 days before versus when the pain starts....it makes the pain less severe. Be cautious as this drug is bad on the liver when taken in excess. She also told me to use the Arthiritis formula of Tylenol for menstrual cramps.

FYI....An anesthesiologist's nurse on BAF told me once via BL messages that it is NOT true that anesthesia causes hair loss! Just wanted to share that bit of information as well.

I focus not on my disabilty; my focus is on my ABILITIES.
