Ohhhhhoooohhhoooo - my dear RNY newbie....

Please - step into the Mack's 'Consultation' room, have a seat.... comfy?

You don't NEED or HAVE to do a strickly bariatic supplement.  I did Centrum liquid until I was cleared to take pills and have taken 2 multis a day ever since.  Now - there are some other additional vitamins you can/should take including liquid sublinqual B-12 and calcium citrate.

If you are going to start a workout plan - there are some muscle recovery supplements that will help you out there too - lemme know and I'll hip you to that game.

What protein supplementation are you using?

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

I know with the band I only had to do a multi-vitamin chewable but with RNY I got to do Multi-V, Calcium, Iron, and B-12 so I am not trying to go broke buying these expensive azz vitamins forever.

I have been doing the protien shakes since coming home (Atkins Advantage, Ensure High Protien, Carnation Instant Breakfast, etc).  I have some Unjury unflavored protien, I hate it, but when I enter the cream soup phase I was thinking of adding some.

How long was it before you were cleared for pills?  My doc, had me taking a anti-nausea pill 2 days out????????????

My recommendations....since you are new to RNY....my suggestions

B12--until you are 9 months out or 12 months---do the B12 shot...you can get the script and let your PCP office give you the shot or you can do it yourself....I let the nurse give it to me (and even left it at the office)....after the 9 months....I switched to B12 Sublinguals (Rexall brand from Wal-mart)...it works for me

I take a B1 once a week (I was low in B1)

I also take a B-complex from Walmart (small yellow pill)

Multi---I take these one a day women...they are small and red (I take 2 a day)....I buy them from Kroger's....they do have liquid until you can take pills or you can purchase a pill crusher

Calciun---I take a Calcium Citrate + D....but I also have to take an extra D

Iron- I can't ever think of the name of the iron vitam Bree told me about it....you can go to the pharmacy and ask about the iron vitamin with vitamin C---it is a good one

hair/nail/skin: i get these from GNC

Potassium and Magnesium--I have to take one every so often due to me having Meniere's disease and have to take a prescribe diuretic when retaining flood...this helps to replenish those two

the key:  ENSURE YOU GET YOUR BLOOD WORK ON TIME----don't take vitamins for 72 hours prior to blood work

I focus not on my disabilty; my focus is on my ABILITIES.

Say dawg - that protein supplementation ain't SHIOT!  Sorry my opinion

There's a store called Nutrition Depot - they have a location in Spring (but aren't you in Katy? I forget) anyway, they have 18 locations -

I use bodybuilder grade protein supplements - that Atkins, Ensure and all are for regular folk - RNY needs more 'bounce to the ounce' if you know what I mean.

I was getting the OhYeah!  protein shakes 32g per shake, now I use the Elite Liquid protein bullets - 45g per bullet.

check em out - lemme know if you have ?s

and check out Vitamin Shoppe for your vitamins - low prices and if you sign up for their card, you get discounts - it's not that pricey.

Thanks, I will check it out.  I am actually in Atascosita, right outside of Humble.  I am going to go to a vitamin store at lunch.  I am working from home today (I actually went to the office yesterday).  So I will look for one near here.

Yeah this RNY shiggidy got me feeling like a newbie all over again.  Well I guess in many ways I really am.  I will try the Oh yeah shake.
