New Post-op Tip of The Week

It's been a long time but my brain has been on vacation, too bad my body can't go on one also. LOL

Today's tip is WLS 101 but it's something we forget once we get out of the liquid and mushy stages. This tip is to simply ask yourself if what you're about to eat will help you toward your protein goal or take away from that goal.  All too often we want to eat chips, sf pudding, fruit, even vegetables before fulfilling our protein ratio of the day. Yes fruit and vegetables are good for you and have fiber but once you have WLS your priorities change. If you do not get the proper amount of protein, you can suffer from malnutrition, hair loss, weight gain, stall of weight loss, neurological symptoms and many other problems. You should be getting at least 80 grams of protein a day. If you are a newbie, you will have to work up to that because your pouch or sleeve will be too small to accommodate all of this. Protein shakes can help you get to goal until you are able to get to the ultimate goal. Get your protein in.

Hope you're doing better this week.

I was seriously contemplating skipping tonight's shake... then I read this.

Thanks
