Hair loss after surgery - Can it be prevented???
I won't be having surgery until January (keeping my fingers crossed.) But, I've been reading about people having major hair loss after WLS surgery. I was reading on another forum about losing so much hair that they had to cut their hair short and/or resort to wigs because of thinness and bald spots.
Is there anything that any of you have experimented with that helps to prevent it? My doc told me about Biotin, but he says that it not 100%.

If I could turn back time I'd start biotin pre op and get 100g protein post op right from the start. Hair loss started about 4mo out but after a week on biotin it slowed. I increased the biotin and my protein and it stopped completely.
As long as I take 4 biotin a day and at least 100g of proten a day I'm good. if I miss, the reaction is quick, within days. My hairline has started to thin recently but I'd run out of biotin for a while. Overall, its not noticable.
