OT: Pre-Op Weight Loss
Soooo....I'm just curious as to whether anyone had to do a pre-op diet before WLS. My friend and I have been given weight loss goals, and have been doing rather well if I do say so myself. My goal, as set by the surgeon is 20 lbs. by 10.30.09 I've been watching my calorie intake, and eating in moderation along with meal replacement shakes...it seems to be coming off so slow for me though. What did you do, if it was required.

No wl requirement, but a two stage pre op diet starting once you were accepted as a patient.
I was on this lc high protein plan for about a month when phase 2 which drastically cut calories for the final 2 weeks pre op kicked in. I only lost 5 lbs but I was somewhat liberal for Christmas. Also, I'm just a slow looser. It took 5 years of low carbing to loose the first 50 lbs.
I feel for you because I know how hard it is. Surround yourself with suporters and check out the board for your surgery date. Those people are going through this with you and you can lean on each other. And of course, the BAF fam is here for you.

I have to start my 2 week liquid diet on Thursday surgery on 9/17/09 what I did was I replaced my breakfast and lunch with a protein drink so my body could get use to liquid only. The Dr. want you to shrink your bladder so there will not be any complications during surgery. I did this as soon as I got approved by my insurance. Hope this will help
