I saw a new PCP today and I was really nervous about bringing up WLS to her.. so we are in our consultation and we are discussing my weight.. I told her I'm fed up with strugging with my weight and I've tried everything and she says "What about Bariatric surgery".. I get excited inside..and she even recommends a surgeon that she has worked with.

OK, I took it upong myself and signed up for a seminar date with another surgeon and a appt for next month. I have to pay 25.00 for the seminar..and the Dr. my PCP suggested has a free seminar.. uuuh what a plus. Wondering if I should just cancel with the surgeon I picked and go with the one she picked?

My PcP and I both agreed on lap band.. of course this will be discussed with the surgeon but that is what I want

did most of you attend a seminar? was if free?

My PCP suggested a Dr. to me and I went with him.   Called the same day and went to FREE seminar two days later.  I don't know what they would be charging for.. They are just giving you information.. Nothing happens... no guarantees.. nothing..  so I would definitely go the one your PCP suggested....

Also since this is a new PCP, make sure that you get all records from your old dr.  You want to have as much documentation as possible for when it is submitted to the insurance company.  You don't want any reason for denial.

Wishing you the best of luck as you begin your journey...

I did not know go with my PCP recommendation but my surgeon did have to have the PCP''s recommendation for the surgery. 25 is cheap I've heard  crazy amount s for seminars although mys urgeon didn't charge.

I figured 25.00 was cheap too bc that's usually my co payment..but I wondered why they were charging when other surgeons weren't. Guess that's just how some do..

another plus was I had to take the morning off to attend the paid seminar but the free one is offered after work..which is great
