Hey Doug,

I am on another discussion forum on another site. Someone took a pic of this bird and is not sure what it is. I scouted around and will take a guess that it is a is a American Robin is this correct?  The guy posting the pic...thinks its some kind eagle...even I know that is not correct. Thanks for your help.

Hi Mahogany!

Obviously, I'm not Doug, but I would bet $5 that the bird in your pic is the American Robin.  We have had a larger population of them than usual around here this year.

That poor guy is clueless if he thinks that bird is even a cousin to an eagle!

Definitely an American Robin...(probably a mature male).  (Or a Golden Eagle...lol...j/k)

I don't think i've "ever" heard of someone mistaking a robin for an eagle before...LOL.  Is that snow in this pic???

Thanks so much Doug!

I am not sure whether that is snow or not. I went back to the post and this is specifically what the gentleman said, "What is this guy? He has the beak of a predator. The color throws me - he is not an eagle is he?"

Now...I don't even see a beak of a predator on this little guy! LOL! I don't know much about birds but I can hazard a guess that beaks of predators are MUCH larger and pointy for stabbing (again just a guess).

The gentleman who took the pic is pretty old...so he probably would mistake a real eagle for a dog! LOL! Have a good one!
