Should I get a personal trainer?

OK - So I'm at the gym this morning and thinking to myself........what am I doing??

I'm down 80 pounds but now it's time to tone but I still have 50 pounds to go. I don't take well to authority or someone screaming at me to get into shape plus at my gym it's a bunch of young guys that offer trainers; they don't look like they have a clue.

What should I do? I want to concentrate on my arms, thighs and stomach. How do I know if I'm lifting enough pounds on the weights. Should I focus on reps??

I'm really ignorant to this so what's your take?

If you can afford it YES!!!

I invested roughly 5K for a year of working with a trainer two days a week.  WELL worth the money - I stayed with her for my entire first year following surgery.

I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions!  I'm saving on the newsstand price.......

Oddly enough...........I've never seen a woman trainer there. I only go really early in the a.m. because I can't hang in the evenings. I'm going to call and ask about a woman trainer possibly. I'm just totally turned off by the young guys and the older ones are trying to holla..........it's like boy bye..........I'm trying to sweat off some pounds up in here.

First before you jump in, observe the trainers don't leave it up to the gym to recommend someone for you like I did.  I invested in a trainer pre-op spent money I didn't have and all he did was BS around; I was so annoyed.
Now when he sees me he's like it's time to come home ~rolling my eyes~ negro phleeze!

Do your homework!  It's too much money to spend on someone who's not invested in it.

double ^5 on that - my chick had post WLS as most of her client roster - that's why I chose her - PLUS she looked like *I* wanted to look - size 8/10, not overly musclely or too skinny.  she really understood what my needs and goals were

If I ever decide to go that route again I'll probably go with one of the female trainers.  I need to build be a bootay, I refuse to believe that all these @$$e$ are genetic.  lol

Hi, in my opinion --- YES get a trainer.  If for nothing else, to make sure that you are doing what you need to do to get the results you want.  Yes, they can be expensive, but anything work having is worth paying for.  I am 3 years out and I just got a trainer.  YES, I could shoot myself for NOT doing it sooner, but I guess I figured I could do "it" on my own.  How wrong was I.  I was doing so much cardio and NOT enough strength training.  They BOTH work hand and hand.

Any how,  I just got a trainer and we started 2 weeks ago,.  I've had 6, 1 hour sessions and I kid you NOT, this fool has me working out like a DUDE.  He has NO mercy.  BUT I like that, because with out the appropriate guidance and that occassional push, I might be inclined to NOT do so well.

Anyway, I am down a few pounds already.  I vowed that  I would NOT weigh myself again until my bday which is in September.

So, yes, if you can afford it, get a personal trainer, I am certain it will work right along with the fact that you want to lose 50 more pounds...

Good luck...

I say do it.  If I could afford one on one training sessions I sure would.

I'm lucky the 'free' trainer is good, helping you set a program and work on form.  He gets you set up, then he's on to someone else.  I've learned alot but its not the same as having that regular hour of one on one time.
