I feel ya AYY. I hosted a fish fry and a gumbo at my house in February this year won't so that mess no more. Plus it was BYOB. You are right about people bringing other people that you don't know. I had to down right act a ***** upin there. Folks was going thru my house like they owned tha place. I put everybody's azz out.
1. they up in the pot fishing out your ****
2. they came up in the empty handed and asked where's the drinks ( if you didn't bring any there aint any)
3. you was barely invited then you bring some extra MOFO's that i don't now( aww he!! to the naw)
4. then you act like you don't know when to go home( tis ain't no all nite club party take yo no bring BYOB, eating up everythang, then complaining azz home)
GET TO STEPPIN!!!!!

Now that is a ninja move right there if I have ever heard one. When white folks "party," unless its a get high party, if they heard about your party through a mutual friend, then they will call you and say, "Hi, This is John. My buddyTyrone or LeRoy invited me I was hoping it's okay... Do you need me to bring anything...?" They'd rather go through that 5 seconds of pseudo-embarrassment rather than sit there all night, butt-hole clenched and ready, suffering the whole night standing on egg-shells hoping that no one points out that he was barely invited.
Sheesh....

I love a BBQ, but now, not so much for the food, but for the social aspect of it. At 11 months out, my appetite hasn't picked up yet, and I still have trouble with a lot of foods. So, some dry arse chicken from a grill just doesn't work for me. Still, I go, because I know there will be something jumping off, and I don't want to miss it. With that said, my same rule applies. Never show up empty handed. Even though I can't get down on my pasta salad, I still make it. If I don't have time to put a dish together, I buy a dessert, sodas, bottled water, whatever I can grab, that's on sale. Never show up empty handed. Lots of folks violate this rule. In fact, it's like they've never heard of it before.
