Hi Everyone!!!

I've been in lukesville off and on and for the most part over on Facebook.  Holla atcha girl!!
Anywho... question... I went to see my surgeon after about 2 years of not seeing him.  He was very pleased to see that I have NOT gained any weight since my lowest weight, however, when I laid down on the table after teling him that I feel sick alot after I eat... not thowing up or anything, but just a lot of icky feeling; well he presses on my stomache and my stomache jumps back at him and does a roll.  (lawd... I know no baby in there) and I yelp with pain.  He kindly asks me have I been SMOKING... DRINKING... you know.. ugghhhh oohhh kayyyy  Doc.. let me be real with you I say.. afterall this my health we talking bout.  Yeah, I get my wine on and some times, I have a ciggie with it.  Not that I smoke a pack a week if'n that.  He said thanks for being honest with me and hands me some KAPIDEX and writes me a script for Nexium.  Mo pills I say... he's like not just that... I"m scheduling you for upper G.I. endoscopy.  I believe you have an ulcer, if not more than one.  OH SAY IT AIN'T SOOO!!!  He said to finish the bottle of wine (at my behest of pleading for that last glass that was waiting for me at home... didn't want to waste it.  Pinot Grigio Lindmins ... ohhh sooo crisp and clean taste... I digress)... and then he says... don't finish that pack of cigges though.  Give them to some one you hate.. better yet.. throw them in the trash.

Question:  Have any of you had an ulcer and what was your experience with it and the outcome.  I'm a little scared about this one.  Don't want to have any more surgeries if I can help it.

Thanks for listening!

Yes, I have had ulcers Pre and Post WLS, Determined by upper GI, Doc prescribed Tagament and Prilosec. No problems after that...just have to leave greasy and acidic foods alone. No surgery is needed to treat ulcers. Wish you the best...all will work out.

Thanks so much for responding and the encouragement MahoganyDreams!

I know the doc said to me, anyone who has gastric and smokes thereafter are 99.9% to have a ulcer.  I was like whoaa!!  Gotta be more careful, I said to myself.

Again, Thanks!!!

Yep at just a little over a year after WLS I was hospitalized  for 5 days after suffering with pain (much like you described) for weeks...my bariatric doc was NOT happy that I didn't tell him about the pain for that long! I had to take carafate (the chalky stuff) liquid suspension for several weeks then just maintained on prevacid...and I think I will be on that for life.

I don't smoke and never have but I do like my adult beverages...still do just not as much or as frequent as I used to before.
