She IS  a beautiful black woman, I have never understood why some people THINK if you are light skin that automatically makes you beautiful...skin hue has NOTHING to do with beauty...Beyonce would be FINE and beautiful IF SHE was Tameka's color and vise versa...fine is fine...Denzel Washington would be FINE if was Obama's color..I personally don''t think Obama is handsome, he is a very smart man...but he  IS NOT FINE TO ME...

This is an interesting article too about interracial dating.....

Na, you know how many times we've talked about this foolishness.  I agree with you girl, beautiful is beautiful and it comes in all shades, shapes, races, and tones.  I'm so over the "light skinned vs. dark skinned" issue and not because I'm bi-racial and light skinned but because it's foolishness.  I know soooo many beautiful people who are darked skinned, who are so stunning they strike awe in the people who see them and then, I know some light skinned people who could scare the fuzz off a sweater!  Color ain't got nothin' to do with it!!

Love is all there is, ever was or ever will be...

This is so ridiculous. But I must say that it is a reality of how SOME of us think. Growing up and even today I have been treated unfairly by lots dark skinned women. I have actually had darker women who don't even know me say things like, "I don't like that yellow ***** cause she think she cute." WTF? And when they got to know me and liked me, they would confess that this was their initial feeling towards me.  Even my BF's mom who is dark skinned has said something like the world is easier for me cause I am so "high yella" and she never like light girls anyway. . .especially ones with light eyes. My ex best friend who is very dark skin thought that every blessing and anything fortunate that happended to me because I was a "light skin chick with long hair." These two have even talked about their lighter skinned children like this and automatically assume that we are all just stuck up. But on the other hand, I can not blame them because I am sure they have come across more snotty light skinned chicks that they can count or were passed over by some man because everybody likes a  "long-haired thick red bone." Craziness.

gb,

Hi.  See my response on Naomi's original post. This garbage is beyond ridiculous.  Sheesh.

"When Alexander saw the breadth of his domain, he wept for there were no more worlds to conquer."   Plutach.  Not true, for there are always more worlds to conquer.

I have had that happen to me more times than I can count.  It hurt to hear that when I was young, I since feel a combination of deep disappointment and disgust with the person, I just shake my head & move on.

I've also been told that good things & successes I've had were due to my skin tone. To that, I just say "whatever!".  Such small-mindedness!

Hubby said it didnt matter to him, he was far too busy checking out my curves & style than to pay attention to skin tone.

My original response on Naomi's thread was that I was amazed that this was still an issue. Apparently, it is still an issue for some people. My personal opinion is that our community has much BIGGER issues than light vs. dark to let this consume us like this. I'm truly amazed.
