Birth Control Shot - ?????
Hello All! I hope that you are having a wonderful Wednesday....
Okay, here is my question. I'm only a week out and had a grand plan to have the Merena (5-yr birth control) only to find out that my insurance does not cover IUD's (which really sucks for me). Well I've considered other options the pill and the ring, but the shot make more sense for me. I've heard that it make you gain weight, but I'm sure that it is the eating that make you gain and not the shot it self. Do any of you post-ops have the birth control shot? If so, have you noticed any changes in your appetite? I'm only a week out and I don't want to sabotage my weight loss for a birth control shot. Please give me your opinions.
Thanks!

Good for you Cookie

I will never understand why women who had a unplanned pregnancy don't think about their daughters being in that same predicament. I had my son at '17", and always have said that if I had a daughter I would insist she would be on some type of birth control even if I had to sneak a pill in her food.
I am on the old traditional birth control pills and have been on them for years and the only child I have had is a ****er spaniel.

You can gain weight on some meds if you eat, if you diet, or if you just had rny. I speak from experience. The combination of the meds and your metabolism will decide.
I had the shots maybe eight years ago. I don't remember gaining any significant weight. However, I did not weigh myself daily back then.

V'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
Even if your insurance doesn't cover it - maybe you could check out a Planned Parenthood or something like that? They offer birth control at reasonable pricing, from my experience. I am on the 2nd year of my Mirena and LOVE IT.
I don't just have issues, I have subscriptions! I'm saving on the newsstand price.......
