New Post-op Tip of The Week
Empty calories.....when you are a new post-op and you're actively losing weight you have to be careful of the type of calories you put into your body. Your pouch or sleeve can only hold so much and it's imperative that you put the right kind of calories into your body. It should be protein first, some complex carbs, some fat and vitamins. Empty calories would be alcohol, sweets, refined carbs and basically junk food.
After you have reached your goal weight and you are on a maintenance plan you will be able to add some of these back to your diet. If you slip up and have empty calories now, it's not the end of the world but be careful or you'll be taking in more empty calories than protein and you will have a stall in weight loss and possibly weight gain.
Protein, water, vitamins, vegetables= eat to live from now on
