at what point did you start to excercise? I do a little walking now. I would like to go to the gym and walk the treadmill or ride the stationary bike (no weight lifting for 6 weeks i was told). Any info will help.

I walked around my house like 4xs a day for about a week. I walked on my treadmil (slow pace) at 2 weeks for like 15-20 mins at a time. I didn't kick it up a notch until 6 weeks. At 2 months I started the Couch to 5K program and really started running. Good luck!

I didn't start exercising until about a month out ( JBO). But I did walk for at least 15 minutes every day. Didn't really have extreme energy level until about 30 days post op.

I suggest you limit your walking to a solid surface (ground) for now. With the threadmill, you run the risk of losing your balance and slipping off and doing injury to yourself.

Stick with the walking for now and then when your doctor gives you a clearence then step your game up

My surgeon gives out exercises to do in the hospital starting on the day of surgery.  He is a real get off your ass kind of guy.

With his blessing, I was on the stationary bike in around ten days more or less for 30-40 min, and using weights of ten lbs or less (limit 15 lbs for the first month).    I'm not typical in that I had a suprisingly easy post op with zero pain making it easy to just scale down my normal routine.  There was no discomfort.

Whatever you do, make that call and get the thumbs up from your surgeon's office first.

I started doing Leslie Sansome's Walk Away the Pounds (1 mile -17 mins) dvd two and a half weeks out of surgery.
Without struggle, there is no progress.

Yes!  I have done both the 4 miles and the 5 miles dvds.  Girl, they are no joke.

Good for you starting with the 15 mins. walking.  Just gradually add on time and then elevation.  You are on the right track.

Without struggle, there is no progress.

I like her Walk Strong DVD.  Two miles with hand weights for some light strength circut work.  About half an hour long.
