So my hair is falling out but I desperately need a relaxer.  Anyone tried this without going bald?

Veronica are you taking your vitamins. I would'nt do it I would just deep conditional it and flat iron it but no relaxer. Try Biotin and Nexuss makes this product called Emergencc that is awesome but if you use it I recommend you use the whole line meaning shampoo and conditioner.

I have relaxed several times since surgery. And yes, strands upon strands have been coming out when I comb my hair. The relaxers did not slow or speed up the hair loss. But I have noticed that when my hair is straight and very manageable (up to 2 weeks or so after a fresh relaxer) I see very little hair loss. It seems like the frizzer and the longer I go without the relaxer, the more it falls out. So to keep that fresh perm feeling longer, I wash, condition, roller set and wrap every couple of weeks. No heat. I think it's just gonna fall out regardless.

I totally agree with Godbless.  when I'm unrelaxed (like now) my hair is a mess, breaking, shedding the whole nine.  I use the aphogee line and do the protein treatment a week before a relaxer and I truly think it makes it take better and hold longer.  I also agree that perms don't snatch you bald if done properly just make sure you use good products for maintenance.
