I only watched her press conference for literally 60 secs, but in the small snippet it seems that she does not live in the neighborhood, but was present that day for one reason or another. I dunno. Howsumeva, it may not be a popular thing to say here, but if my neighbors (75% white) see ANTYBODY looking like they are breaking into my house...CALL THE FRIGGIN COPS! If I see antybody looking like they breaking into my neighbors house, I'm calling the cops.

I think any argument re why she did/dint call the police is ridiculous and irrelevant. The arresting officer's judgement is where this story goes wrong, not a citizen reporting a potential crime. Thats the dang problem now...too many people turning their heads/burying their head in the stand instead of speaking up when appropriate.

eta - Has anyone seen pics of this neighborhood? I haven't, but it just might be one of those affluent neighborhood's where the homes are kinda far apart.

I have lived in my home for about 10 years. Before buying it, my Grandparents lived there. The neighbors on each side have been there since my grandparents lived there and one set I NEVER see. Our homes are pretty close too. I have seen the wife a couple times, but would not be able to pick her out in a lineup to save my dayum life. I've NEVER seen the hubby.

But...you best believe, if I saw someone who looked as if they were breaking in, I would call the police....and hope they would do the same for me.

Yet another non racist. Of course she would have called the police on a white man too. Right. Like she missed the fact that a Black family lived there.

This crap goes on a lot in Southern CT's affluent subdivisions. Its always the same old story. I read that the 911 caller claims he 'pushed' the door in. Well how else do you open a door from the outside to enter your home?

I'm with a couple of others that have heard the 911 tape and honestly it doesn't sound like she was screaming "Yall better hurry up some ***** is breaking in." She was pressed by the dispatcher to give a race, she said she wasn't sure and they again asked, Caucasian, Hispanic, or Black. When pressed she said maybe Hispanic and then you hear the dispatcher putting the call out and saying the caller couldn't identify race and again some other comment about race.

I truly feel the neighbor got a bad rap in this situation.

oh snap! I haven't listened to the tapes - played like that - then yeah she's cool. I hadn't seen a news clip where they played the call.

I did not hear the tapes, but from whats been said here, perhaps she was trying to do the right thing and the media account I read gave her words their own spin. If history is our guide, these incidents always end the same. Criminals cops vindicated and innocent citizens villainized.
