After having wls, experience will be the best teacher. You will find all kinds of professions on OH forums, support groups and other forums. But having surgery levels the playing field.

We all must research and study before surgery so that we can be prepared but no one can be 100% prepared for everything. I look to my surgeon, dietitian, exercise physiologist and the veterans of this journey to help me. I'm under the care of 3 specialists, a pcp and my bariatric team right now and let me tell you, not every dr. knows how to treat wls pt. Just having book smarts will not make you successful. I often hear people say that "knowledge is power" but I disagree, "applied knowledge is power". It doesn't do you any good to know something but don't apply it.

I have a degree in health and human performance and I've taugh****er aerobics and arthritis classes for years but it meant nothing when I had my surgery, because I was starting as a newborn. You have to be a willing vessel to learn and ask questions and soak up what the veterans have to offer.

I have yet to find anywhere, better info than what I get from vets.  Thats why my surgeon's a vet too.
