My surgery is August 25th .  I have no idea where to start with protein shakes.  Where can I find a good price on protein samples?  Any deals?   Free is always great!  And can you recommend any good brands both flavored and tasteless to start with?  Thanks for your help.

Body Fortress at Target and Walmart is inexpensive and taste ok.  Mixes best in the blender as opposed to a shaker.  Its also low in sugar/ carbs.  My doc reccomened 5g or less carbs per serving and 100% whey with 20g protein.

Read lables because many are much higher in carbs/ sugars or not complete protiens.

If you can't use milk products there is gemma (pea) protein, rice protein, and egg white protein (Jay Robb actually tastes really good).  Of course there is also soy protein is available everywhere but avoid it if you have thyroid issues.

netrition.com sells a wide range of protein products and you can view the nutrition facts lables on line.  They also have zero calorie syrups you can use for flavoring your shakes.

Less than a month to go so start drinking your water and upping your protein now.  Proten aids in post op healing.

I like the following pre made drinks:
Atkins
O yeah
Lean Body

I order Beverly International  to make at home. 2 scoops . I like the taste. It's a little costly but when you read the reviews it's by far the best nutrition wise.
I order it from    worldclassnutrition.com
They have the best prices so far.

vitalady.com has it to where you can buy samples of different proteins. I'm a isopure powder girl myself and have only found three so far that I like. Orange pineapple banana, dutch chocolate and banana cream. Remember don't stock up on something because I'm almost postitive your tastes will change.

ETA: I buy mine from GNC because if I don't like the taste and keep my receipt I can exchange it for something else within 30 days.
