So I was reading my latest People magazine and they had an article talkin gabout some of those women on that new Bachelor type show for plus sized folk.  I was suprised to see one of the women say she was so happy she had a gastric bypass 6 yrs ago to help her lose 100 lbs.  But they still have her weight listed at 225 lbs.

You have no idea how pissed I'd be if I went thru a RNY and never got below 200 lbs.  Plus I'd be damned if I sign up for a show where they list my weight unless its the Biggest Loser.

I can't really say if I'd be pissed off.  Each individuals situation is different.  Losing a 100 lbs for that women may mean she didn't need to take BP meds or cured her sleep apnea which in turn could be the best thing for her.  I know several people who have had the surgery and are in that same situation but are much healthier and happy about it.  JMO

I'm every women . . .

I guess as someone that was active and actually healthy before my band I didn't even consider co morbidities since I haven't had to deal with any.

Yep....Michelle...this about sums up my experience...but I guess the only one I can be pissed at is myself. I failed my RNY...it did not fail me. On a positive note, its never too late to try to get back on track... I never even considered a revision because I knew its not about more surgery but to what degree I am now willing to commit. So...it does happen. I just hope that chick does not blast the procedure if in fact she screwed up!

I guess too it would depend on her starting weight, but she lost about 100 lbs she stated.  If you're starting out at 400+ lbs, I don't fault you for getting to about 225.

People make the same mistake all the time...they think the procedure is a miracle cure and forget to take care of the mental stuff. Its a big set up for problems.

Thanks DeDee,

I have been trying very hard to not to beat myself up about where I could have been AND instead focus on how far I have come. Thanks for the love!

Now Michelle look at how many  years ago she had surgery. She could have lost below 200 and gain some weight back.

Everyone is different in their journey.

True, true.  Its easier to say since I['ve never been in that position, but if I went through surgery, had my innards re routed, I'll be damned if I'd start packing pounds back on.  Especially seeing as this was a YOUNG girl, like 23-25.
