Hey there.
You had me scared for a moment. I thought the Apocalypse was upon us.
LOL.
Nervousness and anxiety are normal. If you pray, pray. Pack a light bag. Hug all your kinfolk. Clean your house from top to bottom. Shave all dem places you're afraid people are gonna see while you laid out. I second guessed my decision a hundred times. Some of us go into Last Supper mode and pull up the Chinese buffet one last time.
Just try to relax. You will be fine.

I ditto what TerriD said.
Being practical, I'd add:
- shop ahead for the foods you will need post-op
- be sure you have a plan for your hair while in hospital (mine was long, so I got a relaxer re-touch a few days before & used scrunchies for a top ponytail that Hubby/my friends/mom could comb for me cause you cant reach up to do it yourself). I also brought my own satin pillow case like I use at home to lessen hair damage.
- bought a recliner to sleep in & had it delivered (I had open RNY & learned ahead that you cannot lay flat the first few weeks with that big cut).
Wishing you a successful & uneventful surgery and recovery!

keep talking to yourself and reminding yourself why you made this decision. tell yourself that you're doing the right thing and that you are committed to making this work.
if you have people in your corner encouraging you, keep em close....but if you got doubters and naysayers around you, distance yourself from those fools.

2 weeks before surgery I was on a liquid diet. I think I ate so many Popsicles and jello until I really didn't want to see a Popsicle or jello after surgery. I ate mostly out of emotions and nerves. I tried to stay focused and remind myself of why I was getting the surgery, I was very excited!!! I prepared by packing antibacterial dial body wash, tooth brush, tooth paste, carmax for my lips, a long handle bath brush and my portable C D player.
Hey Girl,
Whatever you do stay calm! Do not get anxiety, pray for peace abnd calmness! This is your new start on life and you have to be Happy. I know you will feel afraid it's only natural but think of it this way you have made a giant step to a better you and a healthier life style. For me I went into trusting that everything would be alright and I have always had the praying support of my family and church memebers. I understand that this is a different way of life now and I have to do what's best for me and what is in the best healthiest way for me. Yes, it is a struggle but we fight for what we desire to have and for what we know to be right! So, girlie stay encouraged and keep GOD first it will be alright! If you need me I will be right here cheering you on! If you need me to visit you I can do that too! Just let me know!! God Bless and stay focused on the PRIZE!! :O)
