Young people have NO concept of age or time....they are all about them. Trust me Im dealing wtih a 16 yr old who thinks its ALL about her.

A few weeks ago my daughter and I were out  and about.  We were having a good time and feeling good until this guy tried to approach me. My daughter got very territorial over me and   was kinda shielding me from the guy.  I didnt think it was that serious, cause Im a big girl and can still handle my own.    After speaking to her about it......I asked why she felt the need to  protect me....and what she said totally shocked me.  She was actually  mad cause she felt the guy was closer to her age and didnt understand why he wasnt looking at her.

I told her....I would think that made her feel good because she could be proud of me.  She quickly said....." Mom I am very happy for you "  but not to the point where I am being overlooked when we are out together.  She was like  you are almost 40 for God's sake.

I assured her that I dont want anybody her age or even close to it. And that I was just flattered that it happened at all.

Yep young people are a mess !

In life,  and especially on this journey there are sure to be days when you falter and give in.......just remember to never give up.

See now if that was a male child he could have very well felt the need to outright make a scene.  We brothas can be really protective of our mothers.

Hey Ma!!

I loves me some Ms T!!!  That child is wonderful.

My daughter said the same thing to me a few years ago when one of the little neighborhood boys knocked on our door and asked her if her MOM would come on the porch and hang out with them.  OMG!!  You should have heard my child!!!

Sheeeeeeeeeet!

I don't blame your child.  Unless you were out in the driveway sporting some tight-azz hi-cut Daisy Dukes like that sista who was outside washing her car in the movie Friday then he needed his lil azz straight WHOOPED for trying to kick to woman at his young age.

That should just tell you how pathetic things have gotten.  There are 15 yr olds having kids, so when THAT kid turns 15 and has a kid - the original mom is a 30 year old grandmother.  And folk are not shamed by that!

As for the oldies - well, Ro was on me the other day about Soul Train - I watched it a little - but it was rolling off the air when I was old enough to watch it.  But Good times is a classic!!!

Betcha that heffa knew the movie Baby Boy word for word tho!!!!

Feeling o-l-d

A couple of weeks ago after Michael Jackson's death, I commented at the office that the first  45 I owned was "Stop the Love You Save" by the Jackson 5.  Our summer intern - age 22 - says - "45...um....that was those like little albums right?...."

I thought about it and realized that even cassettes might be a stretch for somebody of her generation. ...Kids today would laugh at how we used to "download"...you wait till your favorite song came on the radio - and pull out that bread-loaf sized cassette recorder and record it off the radio...a little scratchy sounding but....enough to play "Soul Train line" to.   LOL... They were good times - but  an IPOD is a massive improvement.
