OT- Rant and Rave Thursday!!!

Ayy yo,

I was at my PCP's office the other day and his nurse, a young black woman, noticed the screensaver pic on my Blackberry, which happened to be the one shown on the opening theme to "Good Times."   She picked up my phone and went, "What is this, the video game StreetFighter?"   Shocked I said, "You're joking right?"   With the straightest face she responded, "No. That isn't the game StreetFighter?" 

"Lemme ask you," I said, "How old are you, Miss?"

No. I heard about it though.

Still shocked I said, "No wonder you don't know what this is...  and that's sad."  I left her standing there with a puzzled look on her face.

Now granted knowing "Good Times" backwards and forward shouldn't necessarily be taught in public schools but c'mon...  At least if they are gonna teach ART at these fancy over-priced colleges and universities shouldn't our kids know more about "ART" than just video game covers and music CD photos???

The next day I went to a store in the hood to buy a few items that I wanted.  Among them were a couple of NY GIANTS NFL collectible action figures that I needed to add to my collection.  The young hoot rat, complete with too many earrings and not enough personality, behind the counter rang my stuff up while constantly smacking her thick, oversized wad of grape-smelling bubble gum.  When she got to the action figures she burst out with, "Ooh. These are so cute!  Your grand-kids will love them I bet."

I was pissed!

"Grand-kids?!  Are you serious?" I barked.  "My oldest child is 8 years old.  What da fugg do you mean grandkids?  Oh I get it...  You thought that just because your third baby-daddy is still sucking his thumb and not wipin' his azz right, every man who keeps his pants pulled up and tucks his shirt in is old as dirt!"

Un-phased by my rant, she looked at me too lazy to even roll her eyes or blow a bubble at what I said.  "Whudd evah," she drawlled, as I snatched my things off of the counter and stormed off.     

Now I know that I can't expect younger people to treat 40 as the new 20 but Dayum!  What happened to not even commenting to the customers on their purchases as you rang their **** up???

Okay, I know....don't answer a question with a question....

Back then we only had six or seven channels to choose from. Now with cable and satellite the choices are mind boggling.  
 
I loved me some GT back in the day, but it is such a stereotypical show that I don't bother to watch it anymore.

Tom & Jerry is another one...remember when the maid jumps up in the chair after she sees the mouse? All kinds of stolen merchandise was flying out from under her dress....she even had a straight razor...

The collectible store chick? I think she was trying to scope your age...she wa****ting on you.
