Anybody watch this last night?

What did you think about the Tuxedo Ball part?   I had no idea Blacks had an wealth society 'group' like that.  It's the same as the White Country Club crowd to me.

Guess I wouldn't know about it - I ain't weathly.  Anyhoo - it was very interesting to me to see how the wealthy of us 'close ranks' so to speak.  It's the same as in the majority society, really.  Fair?  Perhaps not - but I do understand why it's there.

What's your take on the show?

i didn't catch the beginning...doing baby gurl's hair and she has to have the tv on cartoons...smh  anywho i did catch the end.  i liked the part about the guy who quit his job with the nba to run a new program to school AA's on corporate america.  i wasn't too pleased with the uppidy blacks...i mean tuxedo ball part.  but i guess it just shows people that there is more to one side of being black in america...that's a part ioknow nuffin about!

yea - I know we have some affluent folk but I didn't know they had a 'society' and all.  But it just showed me that we are definitely a microcosm of society as a whole.... on EVERY level.

This portion of the segment "Black elite" rubbed me the wrong way don't ask me why it just did....

First of all where is the middle class??? I didn't see me represented in there at all

The woman(sorry forgot her name) who started the Tuxedo Ball to me seemed like she thought that  anyone that is in her circle would better than us "regular black folks" because she did say she designed it for those who belonged. Anywho I was full of thoughts after that went off.

I did love the MLT program segment, such a great program!!

Thanks God for creating, Jesus for saving, and the Holy Ghost for sustaining ME!

Hey Kells:
I think the Black Middle Class was represented...but are invisible, just like the White Middle Class. Never seen, but all of the Responsibility is placed on "us".

I don't have a problem with the Black Elite, what would it say if there was No Black Elite, and they definitely give back. Why is it that "we" seem to hate or be jealous of the Black that makes millions but have nothing to say about the white person that makees millions, billions. There is truth to the notion of crabs in a barrel, I think. It's ashame when Blacks who are in any way financially successful can not enjoy being around other Blacks for fear of harm and jealousy...I just look at Black athletes who basically have to cut off old relationships because some Blacks will bring them down...most of their giving back has to be done via Foundations, non-profits...but that's good too. Just so it gets back.

I have to agree with you on this one.  Elite status is just the order of things, in my opinion and I know full well I am not a part of it.  Middle class I have down pat - but upper echelon, probably never.

And with the way SOME 'lower' folk act - I don't blame them ONE bit for being exclusive.  Prime example - we had an event here in H-town yesterday hosted by some rapper - it was a charity community thing - anyways, when the concert was shut down early due to overcrowding and a shooting popped off when they were packing up - 6 people were injured.  Now WHY would the 'upper crust' want to be anywhere near that kind of mess?

It's not that I have a problem with wealthy blacks but I think some do and carry alot of resentment for it...Why I don't know????  If I have 10 or 100,000 dollars I know I'm blessed!!

I think the when you are sucessful and you have a fear of harm or jealousy that goes beyond color

Certain Blacks have been trying to get their own High Society **** off the ground since the first two full days after the end of slavery.

Sad but true.

Even if you or I had Shaq, Kobe's, or Janet Jackson's money they still wouldn't open their arms and welcome us in.  They frown on earning their money through entertainment.
