I Dont Understand

I mainly come on OH for the advice which I REALLY need right now. I'm newly sleeved. Right beforehand I collected a ton of info.

That being said, people have lives. WLS takes a lot of time and energy to get prepped for, be it insurance or financing, then learning about he surgery itself, then learning about recovery and how to eat.

People generally become more active in their personal lives after surgery and just don't enjoy computertime as much as they did before for one. Just out and enjoying life, taking time out to excercise, busy catching up on things that they had to put on the backburer as they were recovering from and getting ready for surgery.

For some people too, the novelty just wears off. You finally find a rhythm and maybe don't need a lot of help. I see these types of posts a lot from people I added when I joined last year, then they come back like a year later and make quick updates. Out living and loving their healthy lives.

Good question!  I surely do not have an answer.

I am as late to the BAF party as they come (I found OH as I was approaching 10 years out from surgery, this spring; BAF after that!).

I only wish I would have had such a means of support, information and collective experience as those of you here long-term have had available to you back when I had my WLS.

My 'surgery buddy', Tina & I remain good friends.  We met at the surgeon's office almost a year before either of us had ours and we really bonded.   I can't imagine losing contact with her.  We have had very similar experiences and results over the years (except that she had her 2nd son after WLS).

I do what I can to contribute & offer prayers and support on OH/BAF and I'm thankful I found all of you here!

I'd like to share pictures, but I've had some stalker-esque issues with 2 real-life idiots, so I limit what I share on the internet.  Took some negotiation with Hubby to post a real pic of me for the Avi due to that crap.

Anyone going to the Dallas OH event?   I'd love to meet y'all in person & I'm planning on attending!

I miss OH dearly and just like you Isa, I was on it for years religiously.  There were certain profiles that I use to follow and would get so ticked when they stopped updating.  I always told myself that I wouldn't be one of those that didn't update regularly and sadly....I have.

My new job doesn't allow me to get on at all during the day (damn IT folks at Verizon) and when I log on at night...nobody's here!  It's been almost 4 years since my WLS and quite frankly, nothing is new.

In the short time that I've been gone there's been so many new faces, it makes it kind of hard to get back in the loop and become re-acquainted.

Life is not about making it through the storm....but learning how to dance in the rain.

LET ME SAY BEFORE EVERYBODY JUMP IN  WLS IS A TOOL AND YOU MUST STAY ON TRACK !! I HAVE NOT DONE EVERYTHING THAT I SHOULD AS A  PERSON THAT HAVE BEEN GIVEN A SECOND CHANCE OF LIFE!! Oftentimes, people lose weight and find there is a life apart from the kitchen and keyboard....just being serious.

So instead of clicking keys while eating a Krispy Kreme donut...they are shopping for bargains, at the gym, mingling with friends....or just having a LYFE!

For me, I have not left....just found other avenues...still come to BAF...not as often....but I am here.

I really got tired of all the BS and lies....always explaining or defending....not my nature....everyone has a breaking point and I had a serious one from a BAF member....when I realized I could really cause harm to someone in cyberspace given the opportunity, I knew I needed to be BAF'toxed!

However, I am here and will post to post I feel need good advice such as post-op tips, etc.
