When do most people seek God?

When they have a problem right ?

That's how I think about it.Wi**** was different in both situations.

Hey there.

You do understand that the primary reason some folks come here has nothing to do with WLS or support, right?

For instance, when I "found" BAF I was already one year post-op.  If I needed or wanted surgery support, I'd go to the Lap-Band forum.  That remains true today.  Don't get me wrong, I've learned a lot from this forum and there are a lot more bandsters here today than there were four years ago.  BAF just means something different to me.

As for my profile, I haven't updated it in two years.  It's still public, and I've gotten several messages from people that say it's helped them in some way or another.  Although there are times when I consider making it private, I allow it to remain public for the very reasons you mention.  If and when I update it, I want it to be relevant.

All that to say, stay encouraged.  You get out of it what you put into it.  You are doing great things!

I agree Terri.  When I need help with a problem that is band related, I go to the lapband forum.  It just makes sense to.  I have learned a lot from this forum as well.   However, I get support in all ways from OH on many forums including BAF.

This is just my opinion, ok. Some of us were ordered to join this site.I will tell you at first I was against it. I didn't want people all in my business. But like you the more I read about others it inspired my to complete my profile.I still don't do all of my up dates like I should, but I do try. This dose take a lot of time and some people just don't have spare time on their hands and if they do, they don't want to take the time to get to know others. I would love to meet some of my  new friends.

Hey Lisa.

Where you at?  BAF is omnipotent and omnipresent!!  Somebody can come meet you.

Now, my question is this . . . somebody made you join this site?  Say it ain't so.

Can only answer for me, just very very busy.  Since WLS, I have two jobs, travel up and down the state working, family, dogs and doing life.  I am not able to get on as much. All of this is a direct result of this wonderful surgery.  I lurk, read and post when I can, but not that much.  I think like me some folks are just living the life WLS gave.  We need a balance though and not to forget where we came from, hince why I try to stay connected some way.  Bless you and congradulations on your success.

I concur with Valjuan.... I would love to update my blog more frequently...(my schedule is very hectic 2 jobs, kids, just had to nick school for a while etc..) but when I have the time I would rather spend it providing support as I can and trying to hang on for myself. I  I still have a ways to go before I will even get to the point of feeling that I can provide the level of support I see other providing. I figure we are all on different parts of the WLS spectrum. I figure this site has been around for a while now...and no matter the time....there will always be an adequate distribution of givers and takers. Like Valueme says....they come and go for a variety of reasons. We also have to remember that we all have different personalities and character traits so we naturally will do things differently. I say to each his or her own.  More power to the ones that are doing it close to 100% (my goal)...thanks for holding down the fort. I know I appreciate it! I am definitely preparing myself to carry the baton one day!  I know when I did leave the site for a while...it was because I was struggling and ashamed to ask for help.  I welcome those that come by...even for a minute.  Its about providing life lines.

Isa,
Great post. I myself just do a lot of lurking...My lap-band journey whoops my butt daily. I often come just to read what other lap-banders have to say about their journeys with the hopes that it will help me with my journey. When I can be supportive I try to send a post, tell someone they really look great, or they are working their tool. I still consider myself new to WLS. I still have 60 more pounds to lose, so I feel like I am still learning... But when I can, I try to offer my share of kinds words...

Again Great Post,

Michelle

Just to add another take, I was a member of another on line group, and we had members missing due to their Internet being disable due to the economy issues.  As  officers, they would send us  notices from the library in confidence.    We never know what the reasons could be.
