yea, they mighta picked the wrong one this time

This is the LAST teaching moment that I have for you...for some reason I am beginning to feel sorry for you...It's like you want attention and the only way you can get it is by being the "class clown"! Again, just because you read a definition in a dictionary does NOT mean that you know how to Interpret or Apply it. YOU are the one who raised Preponderance of Evidence in the Gates matter, NOT Me. You need to know that when anyone is ARRESTED by the Police, it is a CRIMINAL matter (Misdemeanor or Felony). In ALL Criminal cases the Standard of Proof is Beyond a Reasonable Doubt. When you said that the standard of proof that would be used is Preponderance of Evidence...that is used in CIVIL cases. Disordely Conduct is a Criminal Charge (Police Arrest... DA PROSECUTES Criminal Cases!)

Fortunately, YOU are NOT a DA or Attorney. Clearly, the DA doesn't have as much faith in that cop,  as YOU do...and they have the Evidence before them.

Finally, you religate yourself to the level of the MOST Pitiful...you have become the Grammer Kop. When all else fails, when you have No come back, no argument, when you are left in the learch, when you are spewing STUPIDITY (Yea, President Obama called that cop who arrested Skip STUPID and ran down the evidence, did YOU see that last night...did you see the Prelude to Black in America 2), when all reasonable argument fails, what does the LOSER do, what does someone who just don't know do...That person pulls a misspellt word out from an INTERNET dialogue and sticks a laughy beside it like that is an exhibit of intelligence! YEP, MOST PITIFUL, The Grammer Kop.

I'm done, you can get your charge or attention from someone else, cause YOU just don't get it, the more you write the more you show your IGNORANCE...but You just don't get it, so I'm Done, Imma spend My time on chullens who got potential and want to learn   .

Its interesting because my mom and I actually had a disagreement about this very topic this morning.  My mom felt that Professor Gates was in the wrong while I tended to view that the police were in the wrong. (My argument all centered around the fact that he did produce ID...ok you confirmed my identity ...now let me confirm yours. Why did the police not cooperate? because a lowly *N* word was making the request!?    It really surprised me because my mom has not trusted ANY law enforcement in over 20 something years because of my sisters disappearance and the fact that those fat racist pigs did nothing to help us back then.  

She does not even trust the white female detective that has been working my sisters case very aggressively! i must admit that it took me aback that she would even give the police the benefits of the doubts in this case...when she cant even muster up a thank you for this young lady...who was not even born when my sister disappeared.  We have her cell phone number, work number and home number...and she even helped me get information when my dumb ass cousin was locked up in Little Rock and no one knew the hell where she was at. 

I honestly can't in good conscious EVER give the police the benefit of the doubt in this case or ANY case involving us.  I myself have been racially profiled and actually caught a case...was falsely accused...and thank GOD the case was dropped because the judge had the sense to question everyone separately AND saw  through all the lies and what they were trying to do to my young black arse. Don't get me wrong...I was no angel back then but I was NOT guilty of what they were trying to lay on me.  All I can say...is that its a bird of a different color when it happens to you personally. 

In my opinion, the charges should not have been dropped  because they should not have happened in the first place.  Those officer do need training on how to diffuse.situations or at lease use the training that they have and STOP being so damn selective when they use those skills.. .hell if he had provided his badge number and name...this might have been a good start. I hope Professsor Gates take up the fight....bring more light on this issue.  

I thank the principals in this thread (Marlo and Valueme) for the lively discussion. Its good to have this type of debate because I know that someone has learned something as a result....and regardless of whether we agree or disagree...We all have one thing in common - WE ARE BLACK AND IN AMERICA!!! so its good to educate each other. There were good points made on both sides.

For Me it is clear that this cop way wayyyy out of line. The recent discussions on CNN prior to Black in America 2 and that are ongoing about what happened proves to Me that not only was this cop wrong (ethically and legally) but that Skip is lucky to get out of there with his Life.

I Love President Obama's take on the situation..."It was STUPIDITY" .

Skip Gates has a great cause for a civil suit and I would like to see him get the matter in civil court. As Dr. Gates said yesterday on the prelude to Black in America 2, he will use this as a teaching opportunity...I hope that this will open the door again to a dialogue about "Race" in America. I'm just glad that we have a President that didn't run from the discussion/comment at his news conference...That cop was wrong; Blacks live with this stuff on a daily basis. Unfortunately, too many of "us" don't want to recognize what STILL happens UNTIL it happens to us or someone close.

I am doing just fine. I know that the only reason the police man will not apologize is that he took Bill Gates attitude personally. As professionals, they should always try to take the higher road and not take the stuff personally on the job.  I know its rough because it a high stress filled job but again, if he had any type of diversity training AND was NOT racist...he would have at least tried to understand how Skip must have felt at the moment when being confronted in his own home (I am sure he would have tried to diffuse him a little).  Its not like he was at Walmart causing a commotion!

I also need to add that its not only about race but about that BADGE of authority.  While we do have a lot of good men and women in blue that ARE doing an excellent job ;we also know that there are quite a few that abuse that badge and they come in all different shades and colors.

In regards to whats going on now with You and Marlo T in this thread. I just have one comment. CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG! LOL! I know that I have been here and done that so I am not judging but perhaps its time to both throw in the towel! 

YEP, I'm done with this Thread. I'm gonna eat some lunch and read/write on some other Threads.

This is a very SAD situation and this let you know how police abuse their power and yes he DID pick on the wrong one this time.
