"Bird of the Month"...lol
Nice article!
I just LOVE Blue Jays!!!
Well, I love birds & the outdoors in general. We live in N Texas and get lots of colorful birds here. I get doves, cardinals, blue jays, lots of mockingbirds, and others regularly to drink from our backyard fountains. I can be just a few feet away on the patio and they see me and come around anyway. I'm delighted over it. Woodpeckers LOVE our pine trees!
We are near a lake, so we get to see waterfoul flying over, red tail hawks, turkey buzzards, and owls occasionaly visit our tree or big trees near here.
My neighbors say they don't like jays because they fuss away the smaller birds and squawk too much. I'm like, how can you dislike a jay???

I gotta question Doug! ~unrelated to your post...but it's a "bird" question~
Whats the bird that lays it's eggs on rocks and plays the "broken wing" act to get people or animals to follow it if they are getting too close to the eggs? (I think it's a kildeer??)
Anywho, we have one that laid eggs in the rocks outside my office....everyday she was sitting on them but she would leave for short lengths of time exposing them to the hot sun (100' degrees). Well we noticed that she hasn't been back since thursday but the eggs are still there....is there any reason (besides something happened to her) that she would abandon her eggs like that??? and do you think since she's been gone so long that they've been boiled by the hot Nevada sun and she knew they were duds or is there still a chance of them surviving?
