HEY EVERYBODY....IM BAAACK!!!
Hey people!
I know i have been MIA for a while but my goodness have i been busy plus i just got out of the hospital from a not so nice 7 day 6 night all inclusive stay!!! had pneumonia, something called Ileus (something to do with the bowels), and kidney issues!! here goes the story....................
In the middle of the night my belly start to hurt me, and i feel like i am gagging to puke...which was unusual, so i thought, ok let me take some pepto bismol and tylenol and go back to sleep. Well i went to sleep but stomache pains and gagging continued and it felt as though i had to have a bowel movement so i went to the bathroom and had a partial mvement (felt like i had to go more, but couldnt) so i called my surgeon's office and explained the symtoms to them and was told that what i was telling them did not sound like it had anything to do with the surgery but for me to take miralex, call my primary physician and come in to see them tomorrow morning so they can check. I took a little miralex and called my primary physicains office and they tols me that i can come in but they do not have the equipment they may need at the clinic so they would probably wound up sending me to the emergency room so i can still come or just go to the emergency room. I chose to go to the emergency room. I sat there sick as a dog in a wheel chair in the lobby gagging for about 3 dam hours I was sooooo pissed, i felt like i was at a dam county hospital!!!!! so anyway they gave me a nauseau pill while i still sat and waited to be seen, it help all of 30 minutes! they finally called me and wheeled me the the room. Doctor comes in, examines me and orders tests, tests results come back my right kidney is swollen! they did xrays to see if i had a bowel obstruction and that came back negative. The lab came back that my white blood cells showed some kind of infection but they dont know what it is. long story short, they wound up admitting me to do more tests. the next day they were transfering me to a bed to take me to do an EGD and i couldnt breathe. They hurried up and gave me oxygen, hurried me to xray to find out my lungs was closing up! (WOW AS IM TYPING THIS, I SEE I WAS VERY VERY SICK, THANK GOD FOR KEEPING IN HANDS OVER ME!!) results comes back that i had encountered pneumonia and the EGD and gallbladder test showed nothing, so they wound up keeping me for the pneumonia and said i had a lot bowel in me and have something called Ileus which i think is suppose to be some kind of infection.
Has anyone else experienced this or similar in there life before or after surgery?
I was told none of my illnesses had anything to do with the surgery. they said that kidney thing is something that has been going on for some time and they ran into that problem incidently, so i went to the hospital for one thing and wound up in there for another. I do feel much better and was given some real mirelax to take to help clear some thangs out, and more antibiotics!
sorry so long......lol

V'N MY RNY. WORKING FOR ME BECAUSE I WORK FOR IT.
Hey there...I am recovering from something similar to ileus.
Wednesday morning, I woke up to a dull pain on my right side...throughout the day, the pain moved to the front of my abdomen, got worse later in the day...overnight Wednesday, I couldn't sleep because of the pain and nausea...my sons took me to the hospital yesterday morning...I was treated in the ER from 6:00 a.m.until I was discharged at 3:00 that afternoon.
The doctor first suspected gallbladder disease, but since my gb was removed 6 years ago, that was ruled out - next possible diagnosis - bowel obstruction. I had a CT scan which came back negative for the B.O.; however, my small intestine was inflammed and my bowels were full...I had not had the urge to have a bowel movement, so the nurse telling me I was "FOS" really surprised me. While there, they placed me on iv fluids and a pain med through the iv (good stuff!) and an anti-nausea drug.
End result - they diagnosed me with gastroenteritis and inflammation of the small intestine. Both the nurse and the doctor told me that they were seeing an increase in gastric bypass patients who were 5-6 years out from surgery, coming in with bowel obstructions; as a matter of fact, the lady in the room next to mine was 7 years out and was rushed to the OR due to a bowel obstruction.
So, word to everyone - just because you are 5-6 years out does not mean you won't have problems/experience bad stuff...be careful - and CALL YOUR DOCTOR IF YOU SUSPECT ANYTHING WRONG - BOWEL OBSTRUCTIONS ARE VERY SERIOUS AND NEED TO BE TREATED ASAP!
Glad you're feeling better...I'm feeling lots better...but the stomach is still unable to handle a lot of food.

WOW! DD thanx! im glad it didnt get that far for me! i know i am the type to go to the emergency room for small things because you never know what could be wrong. I am not 5-6 years out or 5-6 months out..lol but even if i did not have the surgery i STILL would have been in the ER. I thank GOD that i went with a small issue because it turned out to be something i needed to have taken care of. KIDNEYS????.......i had absolutley no problems with them in my life, so imagine if number one-i was NOT a gastric bypass patient, number two-had since enough to go be seen, and three - know my body and when there is something different going on with it. With me letting thehospital know i was a gastric bypass patient they knew right away everything to check when nothing came up wrong in that area they kept testing and low and behold a kidney issue!!
so i ENCOURAGE EVERYONE post o*****t dont let things just go, get checked out!!
