Good for you on joining - that's the FIRST step. Now, for the program - cardio and weights - can't just do one or the other. but the weights is what will tone and help your skin not be so saggy.
i would say get a couple of sessions with a trainer if you can so that you can learn the right exercises and form to make your time count in the gym - i still do exercises my trainer taught me years ago.
Most importantly - make your gym date a REAL date!! meaning you don't miss it, just like you don't pass up a hair appt to go home and sleep - get your butt in the gym the same way!!!

Ditto what they said: Cardio for the heart and lungs. Weights for strength and muscle tone. The two work together.
