Thanks.

So correct me if I'm wrong, prayer doesn't necessarily have to be a formal knee-bending, sermon type of talk with God?

No prayer is real talk with God do it siting, laying, while driving, or in a closet what ever.  I once heard a story of a woman in a hospital who had a chair by her bed and talked to it daily.  The chair represent her talking directly to God as if he was siting right next to her.  God is our friend so just talk no formal speech is needed.

Thank you for posting your response.  This is how I feel about Jesus.  He's my friend and I talk to Him everyday, several times a day....

Never thought I would jump into one of these but here I am.  I am a praying person.  Not because I have in the past or always do the right thing.  I have experienced help from God in some awful situations and know God  pulled me out of it.
If you break some change off and give it to MM she will trust you at coming to her aid.  Simple as that.
I am in the full time ministry but can never be slammed, cussed or beatdown for trying to use BAF or any other site to hook you up with the lates****chtower or Awake magazines. For that I will catch you at home if you're not hiding, on the street or anywhere else.   That is not why I'm on this site.
Never did understand why people think you have to be living a certain way to pray and be understood.  I do try to work with my prayers.
Having a tool to help with weightloss I understand that you have to work with it for it to work with you.  Same with prayer.  At least that's how I understand it.

Hold up...  Hold up...    Best not run up on this brotha with a handful of  Watchtower or Awake magazines on the street unless you want to see me do the 100-yard dash like a ninja is running away from high-azzed child support payments.

But on the real, folks "in the ministry" tend to make us non-ministry folks feel like God won't even listen to us because of the so-called way we're living.  But I was under the impression that God was equal opportunity and didn't trip on how we lived, provided that we ain't out trying to kill or hurt anybody.  Right?

I love your being upfront Double_Ayy and can't be mad at you.  If God didn't listen to those not in the ministry none of us would ever get into it.  God is definitely an equal opportunity kind of spirit.  He even accepts those who do kill people in hopes they will change.  And another tip.  If you see me headed your way and you don't want what I have or have to say.  For me all you have to do is just say no.

 With  I will succeed.

For me Prayer works. I am a praying person because to deal with some of these people in H-town you need a lot of it or you will pull out an gun and go postal. So for me it has saved a lot of lives and has made me a better person. Plus I'm not so quick to curse a MOFO out like I use to be.I believe that everyone should have a personal one on one relationship with God in their own way. So when someone ask for prayer on here I say pray for them because you never know what their situation really is.

Well thank the good Lord for prayer cause we don't need you out in H-town pull out any guns.  The murder rate is high enough.  Trust me.

I agree with you on the individual relationship with God in their own way idea.  Too bad others say that but don't put it into practice when they see something they don't readily agree with.  What a shame.

Ok, I'm woke now!

I consider myself more spiritual than religious.  I pray and keep the lines of communication open, just do it on my own....not church-going.  Nothing against organized religion, but I have my own reasons for this way of living.  It works *for me*.

As for prayer, I just do it when the mood strikes.  I can be sitting here at work and feel the need to give thanks, ask for forgiveness, or to say a little something for others.  I don't think the 'where' and 'how' makes too much difference to HIM.

I have, on a few occasions, come to BAF for prayer but not too often.  I remember someone on here saying they don't do that because they don't want just anyone praying for them.  I think it was said jokingly...at least that's how I took it, because it was kinda funny to me.  But if you think about it...they did have a valid point.

Because I'm sorta private in some ways, I limit my prayer requests posts, but know that my true friends are praying and got my back....even when I don't ask for it.
