OT - Educate a confirmed sinner... Please.
Ayy yo,
Almost everyday people post on BAF how they need prayer, want prayer, would like prayer for themselves, prayer for a loved one, or prayer just for the sake of knowing someone is out there saying a kind word on their behalf. Not a problem. May God bless ya; no go sit ya butt down.
Personally, I never post that kind of stuff on here because at first I thought people just did that because they were seeking some attention and wanted people to know "without knowing" that they needed that attention. However, after lurking through some of the profiles on OH during the after hours when I'm not on BAF, I got a chance to feel a real reconnection in some way to these people through their stories that have transended any WLS related issues and I've almost begun to understand their need for prayer, because like me, some of y'all have some pretty fugged up situations. Let's face it, if it wasn't for bad luck some of us wouldn't have any luck at all.
So help me fully understand, BAF and BAF-ettes. What exactly is "prayer" to you and how does it change things?
My spiritual side is one that I really don't show that much around these parts - mostly because of how I am, folk think I lack the capacity to be connected to God or that in order to be God-focused, you MUST adhere to certain behavioral norms......
anyhoo - prayer to me changes everything. I have had countless times in my life when I truly had to come to prayer and ask Jesus to take the wheel in my life and it is no mistaking his grace and his hand in my day to day. I am not the devout, rolling over the river and dip yo hands in the water Missionary Baptist Apostolic type - but I am truly God fearing.
So - when somebody asks for prayer on here - I do say a quick one and I sincerely wish the best for them.

I like that line you wrote: "folk think... in order to be God-focused you MUST adhere to certain behavioral norms..." That's is true. Folks will think that, but is it all about what "they" think or is it about what we feel inside that counts?
For me and MY faith - it's about how I know my relationship with God is - that has nothing to do with ANY man in the natural - my SUPERnatural father and I know what's what and he's the only father I answer to.
I will admit that I struggled with it and did attempt to change - but it didn't 'feel' like me - everyone knows I am crazy, outspoken, irreverent and just a plain NUT at times - that's me, all day EVERYday - no need to change or rearrange that because someone thinks it's inappropriate. It took me a long time to get this comfortable with myself - why go changing for a mofo that ain't even known me HALF as long as I have known myself? ya dig?

I feel exactly the same way. I tried those shoes on before and couldn't sport 'em. I'm just not the bible thumpin' holy roller type. There's nothing wrong with that type of person but it just ain't me.
