New Roux-en-Y due to revision (2 weeks post-op)
Hello all. I did it. I am now the product of a revision. I went from a lap-band to a roux-en-y. My surgery was on June 30th, so I am almost 2 weeks post op. I have to admit, I'm still nervous about the whole thing. At about 1 week post-op I could no longer take liquids and went onto stage 3 a week early. I feel okay, but hope I did not mess anything up. If I had to drink another shake, I was going to vomit. I've been mobile and feel okay, just a little sore in certain spots. I stll get a little tired faster than usual. I don't see much difference yet, is that normal? I don't feel full like I did when I was on the lap band, I just know when it's time to stop eating due to portions. I don't have much of an appetite in the morning, but force myself to eat anyhow. I am struggling with getting the fluids in. Is all this normal?. Also, this Tuesday, I will be 2 weeks post-op, can I start walking? Thanks for listening.
Hi there and welcome to the board!
First - lemme just tell you I am known for being blunt - so don't take offense to what I say, my intent is truly to be helpful.
That said - you really need to follow orders. Jumping stages that early might not totally mess you up, but this is a large MIND game as well as physical. I understand being tired of shakes, but jumping straight into regular food might be too quick - soft solids like oatmeal, baked fish, canned tuna or chicken might have been more appropriate - but what's done is done.
Are you monitoring your protein, vitamin and water intake each day? If so, are you getting in the amounts your doc told you?
As for the walking - unless it's part of your doc's orders, sit down and rest. I just had plastic surgery myself 6 weeks ago and I am DYING to get into the gym, but my surgeon told me to chill and that's what I am doing - because *I* know *ME* and I will get in the gym, act a fool, mess something up and want to cry about it later.
Obviously you have been through a lot already - that's why you're a revision - know that this, too, will take time, and trust the process - keep to your plan and watch it work out

Good to know it was soft solids - you'd be surprised at how many folk jump the gun and really jack things up. Sounds like you are going to be level headed - just remember Rome wasn't built in a day!
My recent plastics are a revision of last year's gone wrong - that's a long story, but I am doing well - had a breast lift and anchor cut Tummy Tuck - it's been 6 weeks and they have been rough but it's getting a lot better and YES, it was worth it. LOL
I will be 4 years post WLS in Aug - no regrets there either

Hi and welcome and ditto what Ms MM has already said.
Stick to the rules early on and it will be easier to keep up the habit. Skirt the system in the begining and that will be easier to do too.
I was allowed moderate cardio but no lifting over 15 lbs during the first month. My surgeon is an off your ass kind of guy. He gives out exercises to start in the hospital and an additional program to work once released. Walking was expected. He is the exception to the rule as far as I know anyway. Definately get clearance first before you start walking.
Congratulations on your revision!
