Grrrrrrrrrrr If you want the job, can you least do your part
For a young person right out of college to be able to get a job within my organization is a dream, they get to start out making more than their counter part who get a job some where, this is like a stepping stone for them, then once they get the experience, they can negotiate for more money some place else or stay put.
So can someone please tell me why this young black lady just walked in for an interview which is being held by a panel.
yes I know it summer time but ......
She has on black capris (however you spell it) (to me capris is nothing but long shorts), with a blouse that looks more like a tshirt that is longer than the ruffle short sleeved jacket that she has on and some ballerina shoes and she forgot her lotion for her legs. Yes we have causal business dress code, but I don't even think her clothes would qualify as casual business
I just shake my head because I don't care what her resume looks like, since she did not bother even trying to dress the part, I already know the result of that interview and I just sad that she ruined a golden opportunity and she is the last interview for the job and the other was dressed for the interview and she just happened to be the one and only black person for the interview.
I want so badly to say Whyyyyyyyyyyy Sista, Whyyyyy

Hey LA.
Maybe we're just old school. I see a lot of that as well. Black and white, male and female . . . in some industries that type of casual behavior is acceptable. They can't seem to distinguish between the ones that do and the ones that don't. Additionally, I think they truly believe the playing field is level and that they don't have to prove themselves. We know otherwise.

For some young people i think its sheer ignorance.I never considered myself fussy [maybe I'm just old] but i work in the court system and in the summer dress can be inappropriate at times. Women in a professional capacity wearing "dress flip-flops" to court and no matter how hot it is outside I really don't think one should be sporting lots of cleavage in a work situation. And if you have a court case, wearing a t-shirt and baggy jeans says "please disrespect me" in this context. But it seems to be the style now. However, if slightly inappropriate dress is the worse thing I can say about a person - I can get over it - styles can be changed - and I'd hate to look over a good person just because they were young and ignorant of appropriate work dress.
